Fish Tales start button and cast not working

We’ve just moved our Fish Tales and it fell off a trolley and took a knock. We’ve switched it back on, reseated everything on the CPU board (this has been a long-term problem) and it’s now booting up with no errors. But the Start button and Cast switch don’t seem to be working. We have tested some of the other switches on those rows and columns of the switch matrix and the problem is definitely with those two specific switches.

My husband’s best guess is something was broken or disconnected in the cab when the pin fell, but he can’t see any damage to the cabling.

Any ideas?

If its just two switches then I'd check for continuity in the wiring with a multimeter if you have one. Could be something simple like a cracked solder joint caused by the bump

The start button is in one of those funny housings isn’t it ? Check nothing come lose and the button housing is activating the switch, reseat the cables on the lugs.

The Cast button has a connector just inside the cab doesn’t it - from memory ? - try reseating.

I'd check the start button is pushing the switch on the inside of the cab first. Those switchs with the wedge lamp in are iffy as hell if they come out of the housing.
Check manual to see where the cabinet switch wiring goes.
The switches in the cab may be on the same rows and columns as others but they connect to a totally different connector on the CPU board. (At least they do on wpc-s which is just after wpc89 so I assume its the same as one goes to the playfield and other to coin door area)
