Expired Faulty Stern DMD

This is from a Metallica, and was fully working with no dots out until I stupidly plugged the color dmd cable into it , therefore supplying 12v instead of 5.

No component damage visible but something must have fried as it’s now dead.

Hopefully an easy fix for someone in the know, or a set of spare segments.

How on earth did you manage that? I'd never make that mistake....never .

Seriously, this must have happened to lots of people, I did the exact same thing. The colordmd people stupidly used the same connector, so its very easily done 2 years down the road when you remove a colordmd and refit a stern LED display, completely forgetting that the colordmd came with its own power cable ( with the same 3pin idc connector as the stern display connector )

It’s color dmd’s way of slowly forcing led segment displays out of existence! (That wouldn’t be a bad thing to be honest).
