i scored a working pinbot,, it was filthy all over, there was an antnest in the topcase, i needed a whole week to remove everything from the playfield and clean everything ultrasonic .pollishing , metal, remove black grease,, replace all rubber,,

it worked for 4 games and then it just said "ball waiting" ,,
switches where fine, wires , connectors to,,,,,,took me a while ,because its my first williams ,,,,it was a small transistor right above the switch wire connector on the cpu. soldered a new transistor in place,,,baaam back alive,,, i see you!!

the only issue now is the sound, i have no background music,, just a verry distored unrecognizeble sound that supposed to be the background i think. i changed the op amps on the cpu , it was a little better but not wat it supposed to sound like, , , speech and target-sounds work just fine. next isnew op amps on the soundboard ,, and see wat happens,,,
all other features work and i got the game for 400 euro witch is cheap ,,,,

just ordered a new rottendog mpu for the pinbot, the old mpu gives to many problems with sound,,, and battery damage might give me more problems in the future,, i can try to sell the old mpu as a repaireble board,,
i also thinking about all new plastics they are availeble,, its a classic , i shall never sell this one, love the gameplay and sounds. i think i want a bride!

Bride is a great game one I've not played in the flesh since I was a teenager. Hoping there will be one at the slam

The new board will iron out any problems you might have had with the old board, well worth getting new.
Bride is a great game and with the new software that's available it makes it a even better game. Will be good to have both games next to each other.

well, the new board is installed, i've got all sounds and music back, gameplay is awsome now with everything working.
had to install my 4 roms,,two sound and two gameplay
also two microprosessors,
only minor thing,, still some distortion in speech but i can live with it
and some distortion when silence falls in, the distortion sound reacts with playfieldlights,,, i think capacitors somewhere at the powerboard.
when i compare my two gotliebs from the same age as this williams,, they have not a singel distortion sound in the music or when powered up and no sound they are just quiet,, the williams distortion sounds are irritating ,, cant leave em powered on. when playing with music you cant hear that offcourse.

Have u checked to see if the caps are bulging at the ends?

yes,, but they all look pretty clean and not bloated or bulging.
when the playfield lamps are flickering you can hear distortion at the same rhythm

when only one lamp flasches i have a sound in that same flash rhythm. two lamps give an other distortionsounbd and the whole field gives another sound in the speakers,,, it almost sounds like music but verry distored.
in fact,,when my pinbot didnt had music with the old mpu,, i thought that this distortion sound was actualy the music that was verry distored ,,it gets louder when putting volume up. i was wrong, it just didnt had music,,it was sound from the lights distortion hitting the speakers .

update,,

i replaced allmost all the capacitors on the powerboard, especially the big ones , the distortion comming from the playfield lights is completely gone, but now i hear other noises,,
i still have some distortion comming from the scoreboard power i guess,,verry quit,,but it is there,,, the sound go's in rythhm with the flashing scoreboard. need to find a cap that feeds that part. i didnt replaced all the caps on the powerboard,,i couldnt find them local.
i replaced 3 X 100microfarats 100v
1 X 1000mf 25v and a 47mf 63V
the biggest on the board was replaced by someone in the past , with wires, so i left it in place.
i also replaced all the old speakers, i have now 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, both updates improved sound ALOT,

another sound i hear is the engine, does that turns all the time? i hearI hear a little squeak all the time repeating,, need to check that out.

but the game is now working so fine i can actual lett someone play .


this pinbot game is soooo awsome,, i love my tx sector,,i like pinbot also a lot ,,i have a light action camera and that is the one that should make room if i ever find something else. that one doest need them fine skills like pinbot or tx,
