Its been a long running passion project of mine, and in 2019 I was lost on how to complete it and reached out to the man here who seem to have endless knowledge, from pinball reviews to how to silicone a shower tray he knows it all, so I asked @Gonzo what to do. He introduced me to a pal of his Jay who gave me some invaluable advice regarding "fair-usage" content.

See my film was a behind the curtain look at what it takes to get from the bottom to the top in the Tribute music scene, following an aged Elvis Tribute and his comedic trials and tribulations. The problem I had was it was riddled with 3rd party copyright issues. Then covid happen. Cutting a long story short (too late I know!) I worked remotely with a new editor over lockdown and beyond and this weekend our film has, after much hoop jumping, head scratching and general ballache gone live to rent or buy on Prime Video! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09KKQR7N7

@Gonzo, I can't thank you enough pal, I'll see you at pinfest where you won't need to buy a beer all weekend mate!

congrats - I saw the new Elvis Movie a couple of weeks ago and it’s very good! Tom Hanks smashes it.

Dude I remember talking to you, must be over 10 years ago about this! It's a defo watch from me 👍
Thanks Matt, yeah we stated this in 2011!!
If anyone watches it can I ask you to leave a nice review on amazon, reviews can push it up in the recommendations to others so can really help us! It's the cost of a pint for a 90 min film, if you don't like it I'll buy you a pint at pinfest so what's to lose!?!

:)

Might be tempted to watch... Really not an Elvis fan, however looks quite entertaining!! :)

Good spot in the trailer @Paul ! Don't worry, hardly any actual Elvis stuff, its all about Richard Atkins, even the Memphis part of the film is more about the guys that do it as Tributes than Elvis, we aimed it more Spinal Tap, less Tom Hanks!

You are most welcome mate. I'm absolutely delighted for you.

Amazon is an underused platform for film-makers but it's absolutely the right place for your production. I'm buzzing for you because it's incredibly exciting to get a project finished and published.

The hard work is done, sit back and enjoy. . . . looking forward to watching it mate.

Who doesn't love Elvis 👍
Its a funny ole place this forum, full of talented peeps 👍
Great effort, look forward to seeing also when I get time.....
This is kind of fascinating - I'd love to hear stories about the sort of stuff that was involved making it, what @J.C.Rox did day-to-day as the director, etc - I love films, but have no clue what's involved in the various production roles. Added this to my Amazon watch list anyway :D

Thanks JT, this wasn't a normal film making process at all! Being totally amateur and with no budget to speak of I had to bascically create what was needed as we went along. I had written the outline and we filmed bits here and there and slowly stitched it together as we went. I was producing the show and working with the cast most weeks and they all had ideas too so it just developed into what it is now after lots of editing to get past the music copyright issues.

I has some musical friends write sound-a-likes to songs I wanted to use too, I really wanted Kirsty MacColls Chip Shop Elvis for example but just to get a copyright specialist company to approach their estate would have cost thousands and thats before they come back with a figure for me to use 1 min of the song, so my mate wrote a similar song which we used instead. Basically, without a budget its all about calling in favours!

Got around to watching this tonight - Is it scripted, it's hilarious, he's like a Ricky Gervais character!

His agent Mark Quimlust - pahaha. "Quimlust" - for real? That bit where he saying "Elvis has left the..." and gets cutoff by Richard saying "f*ck off". Hahaha.

So many laugh out loud moments, great work, it's excellent, really enjoyed it.

JT, thank you so much mate, really glad you enjoyed it! Ricky Gervais was a huge influence, especially Extras where there was always a younger guy doing better than him, so we took that idea to the best UK guy Pete Storm and he was happy to do the cheeky wind up lines out in Memphis at the competition!

Quimlust was a dig at an agent who ripped my parents off, Mark Lunquist, total a$$hole, my mate Chris played him. I'm the bloke that made the piano btw, which is true, here's something funny, you know Jerry Lee Lewis died recently, do you recongnise anyone in this Guardian article.....?
