Don't know the seller but given the number he's trying to shift I would have hoped for a bit more information and more pictures.

Anyone else know him?

i met Dave from Pinball Pleasure, bought my first game off him. he totally rinsed me out but no hard feelings as i was a newb and it was a good example with no problems, i just paid too much. he reckons he put dozens of shopping hours into it, so maybe he did. he's a decent bloke.

Nice find Grizz.

Interesting that the starting price on the auction is £100 more than he's got it listed for on his site.

the prices on his webpage seem reasonable, I might have to pay a visit...

His prices have generally been the same for years. Now that ebay is full of overpriced listings, they now appear to be a lot more palatable than previously thought.

You need to ignore his web site prices. I found it hard to even get him to agree to sell me a machine as he tried to talk me out of it. He did explain his shopping process and his background which made him sound like a sound person. I never did buy from him in the end as I found a TAF somewhere else within my budget.

Strangely, I had a similar encounter a few years back. It turned me off buying from him at the time, but I came to realise he was being super honest about pinball and the maintaining of them.

I just rang him about SM, it's out on site...he talked me out of buying Stern, he's had to service a lot of new ones, reckons the build quality has gone downhill since SM...but I'm thinking about the TZ, web price is right at 2.2k, slight cabinet fade on one side - unshopped but working, I'm tempted, does that sound like a decent deal?

Same here. I called about a FH on his website. The guide price was something like £650 (about 4 years ago) but he actually wanted £4500!!

Prob ballpark for a TZ yeah. Depends how 'unshopped' it is. Fully working ?? Including clock, gumball machine, powerball detection ?? There can be a lot of niggly issues with unshopped TZs. Lots of photos or check it out in person.

If you are happy to pay that price, then its worth it. If not, look for another.

Don't let others opinions blind you when choosing your next pin. They all break at some point, and they all can be fixed relatively easy enough.

It's Pinball Pleasure

Never had any dealings personally

Had the unfortunate displeasure of meeting this ****%%%@@@""*** !! yesterday. Totally disinterested in being bothered to do anything whatsoever and is just a horrid person to deal with. I wasn't buying else i would have walked, mate i was with stuck it out though as i even announced i was gonna walk as the guy was being a total *******

Started arguing over throwing in a 50p fuse at one point after we drove over 170 miles to buy an expensive pin off him that we had viewed just the day before!

Of all the people i have met in the past month or so this creature was by far the worst i have met and i personally would never do any business with him due to the way we were treated.

As for "Pleasure" in the company name.. never more a pee take have i seen.

Rant over .. as you were .. need to sit down now.. blood rush lol :D

Are you sure it's the same person - Dave - I spoke to him earlier for a while he seemed OK, but now I'm a little concerned...

Tried to get a prism card off him a little while back. Ended up that he didn't have one in stock, but at least he checked for me and actually came across quite well when I was chatting to him.

Was toying with asking the price of POTC but suspect it's more than I'd want to pay

I'm on tenterhooks...agreed to pay deposit....clock doesnt work, he says he'll fix it for extra £50-£75. Otherwise it just seems to be bulbs, rubbers and flippers that need attention. I'm wondering if he's changed his mind about selling at that price or maybe he reads this forum, I'm waiting to hear back from him but after roughneck's comments, perhaps I should see some pics first.

i remember him as gruff, fat, disgruntled but very experienced and knowledgeable. i can sort of see why he'd come across as a bit of an ****, but i don't think he's any kind of rip-off merchant in terms of quality, he's too long in the tooth for that. i got the impression that he was just desperate to retire, to be honest!

anyway, let us know how it turns out. my money is on a happy transaction for slightly more than you wanted to pay initially but got bogged down.

Mark9 please don't get me wrong i do not for one min think he is a rip off merchant. He's been in the game a very long time and will all of a sudden "snap" and be ok for a few mins and then snaps back to been an ****.
He asks insane prices but will come down and then likes to state how much of a deal your getting! As an example a Drac Pin he had for sale in "ok" condition he wanted £2,250 !!!!! Came down to £1,500 and wouldn't stop singing the praises of the deal i'd get. Plus checking the machine out before agreeing to buy was a quest i tell ya... Just pretty much wanted the money without being able to take time to check what your spending £1,500 on. Rushing you and tutting when you wanna do tests etc.
My mate wanted to do tests and check the magnet was working correctly etc as anyone would, the Pinball Displeasure guy was trying to rush him all the way through, i even said if i was buying this pin we would all be hear alot longer to which the reply i got was "no we wouldn't i would have gone" to which i replied "and that is why you didn't get my money".

If you treat him like a wife you have been married to for 20 odd years who's time of the month it is (so you let em rant and flap but ignore everything and do your own thing at your own pace) then you will be ok. BUT i would say be prepared to walk if you cannot conduct the business at your own pace.

Take ear plugs too then it will save you the incessant ramblings of how the pub business is on its knees and he's had enough.

If your machine is on site then he does "look after them" as they are his work horses so he has to do the minimum he can to them to keep them going.

I wouldn't hesitate to think that he use to take all this seriously at some point and he's been in the game a very long time and over time has become disillusioned with it but no excuse whatsoever for being a cock.

I'd agree with cooldan above.

ok thanks, mate..oh well we'll all been through that kind of stuff buying a used car...as long as the product's Ok I'll be happy. I've been on the lookout for a TZ for a while they seem to get snapped up straight away or go for silly prices.

I've already had the conversation about the pub trade...I'm an ex operator so I can kind of sympathise with him there, to be honest he's pretty brave still renting them out I stopped 10 years ago...phone calls at 10pm when there's a lamp out, the profits just weren't worth the hassle...oops I'm starting to sound like him now.

anyway if I go through with it I'll let you know how I got on, if anyones else has got a TZ in the meantime......

Good luck with it Mark.

Can't help but notice you're in Lincoln. We seem to finally be getting some Pinball collectors up in this neck of the woods, which is great to hear.

Hi
yes I'm in North Hykeham, I see your in Grimsby not too far away, must admit I don't know any other collectors around here

There's a guy called Daz in Grimsby who recently picked up a Surfin Safari too. I'm trying to convert my colleagues too; one guy I work with is on the brink of ordering one.

If it carries on at this rate we might have scope to get a league on the go. :D
