I'd be up for attending if all OK, about an hour and a quarter away I think
There may be a pinball back in the White Horse soon but it’s just changed hands so there’s not at the moment, although it does look promising. Herbies Diner is your best bet they have my Black Pyramid in there at the moment. Is there pinball in the White Horse all the time, or is it just for events? We'll be going past there in a week or so & may call in if there is. (Or do we just call in at the diner on the main road?)
Paul who owns Herbies has said on more than one occasion that if we wanted to bring in a few tables and have a meet he would support it. Obviously it makes things a bit tricker if folk have to start lugging tables about but if you wanted a place for a chat where there’s beer and hot drinks it may be useful. So first meet will be 29th Jan. Still finalising the plan and IFPA details.
Being new to this I'd like to get people's opinions on registration, considering I can only accommodate 16, maybe 18 at a push I was thinking to have a registration much like Neil and Greg do. But it feels a bit off for our first time hosting to expect people to pay to come round my unfinished home
I was thinking a min donation of £5 which will go to charity.
I will provide food, some drinks and trophies but I'm happy to cover some of that
That's fantastic! Hopefully we can have a meet up there, it's a perfect location with Herbies diner round the corner![]()

for just a day comp I'd recommend not moving games around. Firstly its tiring and potentially the game doesn't work when you turn up with it!
also recommend looking at https://Matchplay.events - it supports nearly every sensible comp format used in the world. You just need an iPad/tablet or laptop to run it.
That would be great! @Lecari likes it there, she has a thing for American style diners. It would be great to have a Diner pinball machine in a Diner!
But as Neil says it can be a bit much moving games about for a day!
I've been using Matchplay for my own events with friends for about a year now. It makes things so much easier!
Running an IFPA sanctioned comp is another level and hopefully matchplay will help streamline that so I can focus on the important things
David, as I posted before my intention to help with this, I didn’t change my mind. We can organise the competitions at the new pinball club that will open in your area.
Why to bother looking for a place to host it and moving around 5-6 tables for a single day event when we will have over 30 pins in one place, room for around 30 players, a huge car park and 4 cafes on site that serve breakfast and lunch. Beside this, for those that don’t have a car, the train station is next to the building. (on the main line between Liverpool Station - London and Cambridge) And as well, if there is interest, we can make it a permanent location for completions for pinheads from N London, Herts, Essex, Beds, Cambs and Suffolk. and if this doesn’t work out for any reasons, we always have Flip Out London, Electric Circus and Special When Lit.
On the other hand to organise it in your place would be much easier. No need to carry around pins and everything is ready as it is. The only problem would appear in case you want to keep it running for long term. Without a variety of machines it would get repetitive. So the options remaining would be to change the house that hosts the event every time or to start moving around pins at your house but this would takes us back to square one.
That is where having a local pinball club comes in to play, and soon we will have it.
