Early SS (Bally) LED smoothing on/off lamp control board?

in many games there is the main lamp driver board, plus one of two different types of aux lamp driver board. so that’s 3 boards to deal with

i could create a board that sits between the mpu and the lamp driver board(s) and figures out which lamps have been on but are no longer required on and gradually dims them.

However, i’m much more interested in a board that does away with traditional leds, replacing them with addressable rgb leds, so then we can dim, fade, change colour etc etc.

Have you considered Yoppcycles?
I have heard good things

Contact David Yopp on Facebook and ask if he has a UK distributor
Ah, no, different issue (I think?).

We have boards installed to stop flicker - they came with the LED kit. During attract mode, however, the LEDs flash madly because they switch on and off instantly (whereas incandescents fade in and out gradually).

The Afterglow/Pinball OCD-type boards, to my knowledge, allow you to control the LED illumination so you can fade them in and out - to look visually calmer and more like incandescents. I wondered if there were equivalent boards for early SS (?)

Assuming they still run on a matrix, the existing boards could likely be used as long as the necessary adapters could be made up.

Things to consider is whether it is the cols or rows that are pulsed (this is different between wpc and sam), the pulse voltage, and the refresh rate. All can be managed in code, but a scope reading first would be needed.
