EAG update please

I thought this was a swap out system, why aren't fthr boards able to be used ? I know it needs a new pc but I thought all the rest is interchangeable
Our electronics are swappable. The boards in question are the game-specific ones that hold the LEDs and switches, and route power and signals for the coils. There are a few issues here other than soldering that we are working flat out to solve.

Good Luck Andy and the Heighway Team - hope you manage to get them sorted out for today! :)

Anyone going to the EAG today or tomorrow? If so can someone grab me some pinball flyers? Alien, Batman 66 and whatever else Stern has flyers for etc.
I'd be much obliged if you can! I haven't been there since, '86 I think? I really should go next year!
Thanks in advance!

And as Paul said, good luck ironing the bugs out Heighway Team, oh and someone please upload some pics! ;)

Agree with Neil. I too spent a bit of time at Cheif playing Ghostbusters and once you know how it plays, its a great game. Getting to 'Stay Puff' is very satisfying.

Andrew, no one on here was flaming, but pinside now thats different.

Best of luck getting them up and running.

Please let us all know here later on if you do get them up and running as I am planning to visit the show tomorrow and would dearly love to see one even if its not working.
That said IMHO it would be best to have them on stand so purchasers can see them even if they are not flipping.

Ghostbusters must be a machine that you need to have at home to appreciate properly. A lot of the time it wasn't very obvious what I was supposed to be shooting for, particularly at the start of the game as sod all was lit. The bottom end of the table is pretty unforgiving, the flipper spacing seemed wider than usual and the outlane guides make nudges to save the ball difficult. Not necessarily a bad thing just an observation as I don't mind a brutal table. I think I can safely say its not one of the best machines ever made though @Neil McRae.

GB really does shine at home. It's a dream theme for me so I pre-ordered a Premium when it was announced, and soon got to play a Pro at Tilt when work took me to Birmingham. Didn't immediately fall in love with it, but over time started to enjoy it more so kept my order. Now I've had it a few months I love it - I wouldn't go as far as to say its one of the best machines ever made, but it's great fun and very addictive.

It's one of those games where your GC score doesn't increase incrementally as you do the same thing but better, but increases exponentially when you work out a new strategy. My GC score has jumped from 1.5 billion to 2.8 billion to 4.6 billion over the past month or so - and chasing those games really keeps me coming back. Has to be my favourite Stern since Tron.

I'm here now with @Sgt GrizZ and @mission65 and @Alpha1 and @Tucks and Mike Parkins and I see Roman and Frank Boner (ignored me as always although we met 10 times, rude *******)

Alien isn't here. There's three Full Throttles, a Batman Order66, an Aerosmith and a Ghostbusters

IMG_5215.JPG IMG_5216.JPG Aliens is playing nice, very happy that it is working, best game at the show by far, two thumbs up for Andy and the team :thumbs:

Looks great - can't wait to play this. Glad Andy got one all working. Hoping that the coding will be updated to make use of the full screen in the backbox as looks a little strange not taking up all the display.

Just back from EAG and left the other troops surrounding Alien.

Summary of games played:

Batman 66 - Didn't look as good in the flesh but played well. Got 3 multiballs in one game so not too difficult but I think the code needs to be improved as no idea what was going on. Screen nice but I don't look up much so wasted on me.

Aerosmith - Apart from the sounds being from Kiss, seemed pretty good. Ball launches into the toy box (and misses a lot) which is fun. Surprised how much I liked it.

Alien - Still obviously had a few technical issues but playable. Looked great and some VERY interesting shots. 4 flippers and the video animation very good. Liked it.

Anyhow, once the troops are 'back from maneuvers' I'm sure they'll give you a more in depth account.

Nice to see Heighway finally have an Alien running today. How come the video doesn't seem to fit the displays properly though?

Alien looks great but I really don't like the Heighway backbox design - can't quite put my finger on why. I think it's the large plastic slightly rounded bezel. Really wish they'd gone with a more traditional backbox.

Good spot. It was just the backbox screen that didn't fill the whole area. Although it doesn't show in the pics but there were graphics occasionaly outside of this area so the whole screen was full at times. Small technical issue I'm sure.

A few vids on facebook now. Can someone ask if the white plastic inserts under the flippers are staying like that? Looks odd to me. Couldn't they have artwork decals on them or at least be black?

Not sure if they'll change that but the white bits are part of the modular flipper assembly. The blades look great by the way.
