Hi all. Thinking of buying a machine with a single vertical line out on the DMD, fortunately at the far end of one side. What causes this and can it be an indication of further problems likely to arise?
Just bothered about further lines going in future and would need to reflect in price. I'm presuming also this isn't a repair job, more a replacement DMD at some stage..?

Thanks.

Doesn't necessarily mean it will get worse in near future, I have had dmds in the past with a line out and no further ones have gone. Its worse if its beginning to show signs of gassing out, takes ages to warm up etc.

They can sometimes be repaired. Jamie over on the Yahoo group offers a service (£50 or so iirc ????)

Have a look at Martins write up here also for more info.

Just want i needed, thanks GrizZ. Not sure I fancy that repair with my eyesight but good to know it can be fixed (by the right person) and shouldn't get any worse like gassing. Cheers !

Sometimes it can be as simple as reseating the DMD ribbon cables or fixing the internal DMD cables themselves to make better contact. Plus there's quite a few used DMD's coming on the market as people are switching to colour displays...

For some reason, some of my previous posts are mssing...!? Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll likely put up with it for now seeing as it's at the far side but will try the easy fix anyway to see if any luck. Cheers.

normally the metal connection has cracked and can be repaired with conductive epoxy or other methods-I certainly wouldnt let it put me off buying another game-use it to knock a few quid off:)
