DE Star Wars Speeder Bike mode

Somehow I had never seen this before. The unused speeder bike Video Mode on DESW. Chad dug it out of the code when he was working on his update.

Shame it was never used - though tbh it doesn't look like the best video mode

Its certainly better than just some animations as it ended up - but its no Fish Tales or BSD

I think Chad said there was some code reason he couldn't implement it back into the game. I'm sure if it was possible he would have put it back

My memory is a little hazy, but does the up and down motion on the lever actually do anything? If not then this video mode explains why it may have been there in the first place.

If you have 5 moons spotted you can drop the lever and press the button - this lowers the Death Star target for a limited time shot to start Multiball.

Otherwise - no

The handle fire button is used for the skill shot/launch ball, shooting stormtroopers, and as above ...dropping the Death Star target.

I think the lever registers a change but doesn’t ’know’ if it’s up or down so in theory you could have to move the lever up to get the speeder to go down and vice versa, of course if they had a time of 5 seconds or some such with a message to put the lever in the up position just before the video mode starts. Of course I could be talking cack, i would need to check my machine to confirm

I think it does know - as it knows if the lever is already in down position for the Death Star opening. Pretty sure there are 2 switches in there. [emoji106]

Breaking news from Chad ...........

'Once I am done with my Data East Star Trek update (coming soon!) , I will take a stab at integrating Speeder Video Mode into this game. No guarantees as I need to clear up a decent amount of ROM space, but fingers are crossed.'
