Hope some of you guys can help out a pinball noob with a few questions:

Q1) I've managed to remove two of the leg brackets so far from my Data East Star Wars as the threads are knackered. I bought some new universal leg brackets from PinballHeaven who advised me that these were suitable for this pin.

So I've attempted to fit the new brackets and they don't fit, nor do they have the three holes to secure the bracket properly to the cabinet like the originals. You can see the difference in the brackets below.

So where do I get some suitable ones from?

Q2) I have found a number of loose wires/connectors under the playfield. Can anyone tell me where they go, or why they might be disconnected?

Q3) The plastic on this coil is broken, and the connection is broken. Can I just solder this back, or should I replace the entire coil? I think this is the slingshot coil 23-800?

If I should replace the coil how do I take the old one off?

Thanks for your help!

1. Brackets are fine - I couldn't get them to fit the holes so turned them around so the collars are on the inside. At the end of the day the bolts will hold them stable no problems and the single hole is just to stop the plate when removing the legs......

2. - the one on the right - is that a cable, or braid? If braid I suspect it's there to earth the Playfield hanger on the right

3. Just glue the plastic and then resolver the copper, remembering to make sure you scratch through any new insulation before soldering....

Thanks for the help Paul. The cables I am pointing to in Q2 are cables and not braid

The one on the right is a brown cable

I'm pretty sure the two at the front aren't meant to be connected. The same cables are on my Rocky & Bullwinkle.

I'll go and double-check shortly.

Edit: Front too definately don't need to be connected. Not sure about the brown wire. Will see if I can locate a similar wire on mine if I get time later.

Also, I don't think that's the slingshot coil. The mechanism makes it look like the trough eject coil I think. Well worth running through the coil test in the menus if you can as it'll give you a good idea of what is and what isn't working.

Ok, this is all really helpful to a noob such as myself :) Many thanks

I cannot find any locations for the two cables on the left, so it looks like they do not need to be connected

You are right, this is the trough eject coil. I will run all tests when I've replaced the leg brackets and this is back on its feet.

I'm still looking at this brown wire. I will take some better pics to help. It looks like some wires have been spliced and re-joined so it is possible that this brown cable is redundant aswell

Could well be. I've looked at the schematics for that table but i'm struggling to find what the brown wire could be. To be honest if you run through the switch, lamp and coil tests and everything checks out then you need not worry about it. And if something isn't working then it could be a good clue as to what the brown wire is for.

Might be something to do with the coin mech I've got a stray cut wire like that on my machine and it's summit to do with the coin mech

I really appreciate you looking! I'll trace the wire to see where it goes, and hopefully get a better picture to assist.

This has been really useful in getting this up and running!
