DE JP - Sound Problems

Hello,

I'm having issues with the sound on my DE - Jurassic Park

The first issue is that I have to cycle the power on/off a couple of times every start-up to get any sound at all. (this is not too bigger an issue on its own and I could live with this)

The main issue is that the sound will intermittently freeze up during a game, and speakers will make the sound note continuously until you power off the machine, the game itself and DMD continue to work normally. There is no pattern to the freezing, sometimes you can get many games played and it works fine, then sometimes it freezes in the first game you play.


I have swapped the ribbon cable to the soundboard in the first instance but this hasn't worked.

Has anyone seen this before or can point me where I should be looking next?

Thanks for sharing the link, I had a look through some of the problems on there.

In the end, I swapped the soundboard out for a pinsound with the cable to boost the 12V supply to the board.

Not 100% sure what the actual problem was but I think the 12v may have been dropping and causing the board to stop working.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has these issues in the future

Had his on both my DE machines TM and SW. Just cant seem to hold 12v +ve and -ve stable. Re-capped the PSU and changed bridge rectifiers sorted out most of the niggles, but supplies still not great. My SW had bad damage to traces trough electrolyte on the board from historic cap blows. Ended up having to connect some components together with fresh wire. My guess is the chip on the board that regulates voltage was damaged to, but at this point an isolated PSU for +5,+12 and -12 works a treat and gives me clean power to work on mods.
