I noticed via the shop logs that my Hook had the wrong flipper coils - so thought I'd treat it to the correct coils and some parts to rebuild the flipper mech's at the same time. All went well but I'm a bit disappointed with the result particularly the right flipper which needs to hit the Windcoaster with some welly but now appears weaker.

Previously 090-5032-0T were fitted which is wrong for this game, it should be 090-5020-30 (Right) and 090-5030-00 (Left). Perhaps the replacement is less powerful?

What I'm not sure of is how tight the link below should be? It has quite a bit of bit of play note screwdriver inserted. I'm worried if overt-tightening I could shear the bolt.

Other than that the coil is held tightly and the flipper bat has just a small bit of up/down play using credit card to gauge the gap.

Thanks for any advice.

Up and down play where you have that screwdriver shouldn't be a problem. The screw that goes through that bit isn't worn is it ?

Here is one I took out of my Spider-Man.

There shouldn't be any gap between the end of the coil and your end stop. It suggests something isn't fitted properly somewhere (or that the reproduction coils are the wrong size). I don't know if that would solve your problem. How about a picture of the EOS?

The other thing to do would be to put the old coils back in and see if there's any change.

Thanks for the advice guys.

@Andrew Stockdale the bolt is ok and on these it threads through a metal bushing so the link isn't wearing against the thread.

@Moonraker the coil appears to be the same length and is very secure back to front. I have installed a new coil stop O spring perhaps that's a bit too snappy and pushing the coil out a tad from the stop. No EOS on these btw.

The coils are the same as @PeteB fitted.

I'll give it a few more games perhaps the coil I replaced is stronger or they just 'feel' a bit different.

I take it you have a good coil sleeve in there and it's located in the coil bracket correctly. What are the flipper switches like? How are the fuse clips on the flipper control pcb? The pivot not and bolt just needs pinching down to the pawl, no need to over tighten. It makes no difference to power.

Your old coils were probably a bit stronger which made getting the Windcoaster ramp easier. It's not an easy ramp to hit. You should probably do a full rebuild kit on those to make sure they're optimum. I can see that your blue bushings look old and dirty.

Also, remember my issue with levelling the game to 6.5 degrees? Well despite the fact it didn't look right at all, I could hardly ever make the windowcoaster shot so the manual is definitely wrong. Brought my game back down to 6.0 degrees and it plays nice. I can get the left ramp now if the ball is in motion.

And im with pinball mania on making sure all the connections for the flipper electronics are clean and making good contact. I squeezed a bit more power out of them with that.
