Looking for a blank template for a Data East wide body (specifically WWFRR) cabinet decals (sides, front, backbox etc). Ideally something templated that'll take into account positions of side rails, flipper buttons and the like.

I believe someone called Stuzza on the vpforums has these, but my registration hasn't came through so I can't DM him.

Once I have this, does anyone recommend anyone who I can contact to get them printed in the highest quality possible?

Any good printing firm will be able to do this. Just make sure you get laminated prints. A printer once told me there is no need to go over 300dpi.

Can you not make your own templates by physically measuring your cabinet? Done that many times before. Just leave a lot of over print.

I could do it myself, but I'd rather get it right and I wouldn't trust myself to do so. Not so much the end to end measuring but the position of button holes etc.

I was hoping someone else had done something similar. Once I've got it in Photoshop I'd be a wiz...

As a side note, I'm also in two bloody minds as to whether to use my custom decals or use the stock ones.

Button holes are cut after they’re applied mate so don’t worry about that. Unless the art has to line up in a specific way with the holes?

Going to be the same shape when you match your lengths and stretch it then that's a template.

Once you have it to the size of the cabinet then you can add 2D circles where the buttons are to mask it or outline.

Potentially, the final design hasn't been done yet, but I want the option, even if it's for another pin where that would be the case.

I do see what you're saying, but that is open to error. Especially with a novice like me and some who is more into the cosmetic design rather than the application and practical skills.

I'd rather get a template with all positions factored in, do the design, get them printed and I'd be getting someone else to apply them anyway.

If I did it I would have to dismantle cabinet and take rails and buttons off to get it even close to being accurate, and even that is open to error.

I take your point about stretching the image too, I could maybe try that. I would make them too big rather than too small too.

You're worrying too much. That shape there is the correct shape, if you measure the height and width of cabinet then stretch the image to make that fit, just for reference, then you can you get rid of it.

Give me the width and height and I'll do it for you. The data east cabs cannot be much different to Stern so you could even have a cabinet if you wanted to look at in 3D and do renders.

We print at work on big flat big printers where I would get my playfield done and cabinet decals.

Edit: Gives you a better idea or just do it in Inkscape / Illustrator.

Ok have measured.

Front: 630mm width, 400mm height
Side: 1320mm width, 610mm height (at its highest)
Backbox side: 260mm width (at its widest), 760mm height

If you flick between the two there isn't a lot of difference, can see how the stars + stripes are aligned. You can tweak that though and you wont be using that artwork anyway.

I think your main worry would be just make sure that top point before it comes down is right. To add a clearance hole for button should be a simple measure from the bottom edge of cab then.
