Having checked my voltages at the display after an issue with it going off, I have found that my -98 is -87 and my -110 is -102.

Is this likely to damage the display in any way?

Very unlikely, they would have to be heading in the other direction to cause concern.

It *had* horizintal lines appearing like interference, then it went off to a single bright line. After checking voltage and pulling connectors off and on a few times it seems to have sorted itself.

What is the 5v mod out of interest?

I think its for the jumbo dmd's only. Might be wrong though. What games it for?

So even though you're working with minus voltages, under-voltage is still safer than over? (this is one thing that really confuses me).

You said it yourself... under-voltage is safer than over voltage which will blow things up. The plus or minus is from a reference point - too much is always too much and will do damage. Indeed the circuits are pretty much the same for +110v and -110v, it just where they are fed from and reference to earth that determines the plus or minus aspect.

IIRC as long as dmd voltages are somewhere vaguely near quoted voltage, and are approx 12v different it all works ok
