IGNORE AS NEW POST DONE, I'll leave this with original problem below....

====================LAST TIME RESOLVED ==========================
Just when I sorted all the flashes, mid game today the DMD went off. EDIT: ALPHA NUMERIC DISPLAY

I read up and heard F7 fuse (but I can't find a F7 fuse.) EDIT: F3
and also one guy fixed with new power supply.

But just was after knowledge from anyone kind enough to assist troubleshooting.

What can I do to diagnose?

I checked the screen power, all was good but the -100v showed -7v (or in that region)
Does this issue make sense? heard of?

I maybe USING MULTIMETER wrongly? Black on GND, Red on -100 with DC200 selected.
========================================================================

thanks
John

I can't see a fuse F7 referenced either, but you know this is a 16 digit Alphanumeric display not DMD, that may help with your searches.

Where are you measuring the voltages? You should have +100, -100 and +5 VDC at display CN4 (Ref pg 37 in manual). If not present track back from there.

ah, that will be it.
but yea -100 is way off

ordered a new power supply.
Went for a XPIN BOARD, then I could get my refurbed and have a spare.

I plan more pins, and enquiring about some, so if same board, nothing wrong with a spare

Which have you gone for? I can only see a replacement for the 520-5047-00 equipped DMD games.

Wow that supports a lot of machines:thumbs:

It is advertised as a williams and older data east.

But anyway, I have had payment refunded as it was out of stock, and not for 3 weeks.
So gone down buying a refurb original. Not sure if was the right thing to do.

LOL
now got home and decided to get PSU off ready

After removing al cables, and started the unscrewing, I noticed they are loose.
So tightened them up and plugged cables back in - all works!!!

So the new PSU did't happen, and came across restarting issue....

Burnt CN1 seemed to be the issue by the research and reading I did. It was burnt.

REPLACED BUT: but no slings / bumpers
CHECKED AGAIN LATE LAST NIGHT: PIN 2 Loose on CN1 - fixed, and got them working again

BUT: Alphanumeric display not working again.

Last time loose screws on PSU sorted it, but not this time :(

any ideas?

Is pin 4 on CN1 for the Alphanumeric display
and is also F3 fuse

should i get continuity between them?

Sgt GrizZ: Thanks
I am such a novice, what earth should I use to check?
and do you know what I should get on each pin?

Taken from here ...actually might be CN5, I couldn't read the blurry print on the online schematic

  • Check the +100/-100 volts at the Power Supply board.
It's easy to check the +100 and -100 volts at the power supply board. These voltages should be from 95 to 105 volts. Check for these voltage at power supply connector CN5.
    • CN5 pin 1: Ground
    • CN5 pin 2: Not used
    • CN5 pin 3: -100 volts DC
    • CN5 pin 4: +100 volts DC
    • CN5 pin 5: KEY
    • CN5 pin 6: +5 volts DC
