Corroded bulb holders - real world solution

I have picked up a Space Station. It is tidy, in good shape and everything works - but it has clearly been in a damp environment at some stage of its life.

The backbox light panel has nasty corrosion, but every light works !!! The lights in the back panel are not important to game play, convey no information they all sit behind the translite .....

It is a bizarre design really - all these GI lights, controlled lights and flashers - and they basically do bugger all

I am wondering what the real world answer to this is pls. It is not a medieval madness. It is never going to be a particularly valuable or sought after game, I doubt a top notch refurb would impact either the playing value or resale value of the game

I have not bought any pinball spares for about three years so have no idea what vat or other chaos there is nowadays

Do I

1. Ignore it, wait for a bulb to fail and address when it does

2. Clean up in situ ie dremmel/ some clever corrosion removal solution

3. Remove bulb holders and tumble them/ put in magic solution

4. New bulb holders. Where is best to buy these ?

Any suggestions or opinions gratefully received

I have had this same issue in the past on other machines, I ended up re-stapling the earth braid as close as possible to the original staples, with them still in situ, then prised the old rusty ones out afterwards, any really bad sockets I replaced, but those that were not too bad and working,I left well alone

Life is too short, if I could be bothered I'd buzz them inside and the worst off outside with my trusty Dremel carbon brush. Thereafter use the dab of solder trick to improve conductivity for the shrunken washer inserts.

Dave, it's a thirty odd year old machine, I'd expect it to have lightly rusted parts, adds to it's charm.
If you are entering it into a beauty competition then go ahead and change the parts, if not leave well alone.
Like I've said it adds to the charm.
