Cool to use a diode coil in place of a 'ND' (non diode) Stern Flipper coil?

Or should I snip the diode off this replacement coil.

Ok so I can add or remove the diode, however that leaves my original question. On a Stern I don't believe the diode is elsewhere - so can you put a diode coil in place of a non diode one?

Easiest is to snip it off. But if leaving on just make sure the power wire is connected to the terminal adjacent to the banded end of the diode.
