Hi guys and gals,

As many of you may be aware, on May 26th, the EU has started to enforce their Privacy Directive, a.k.a. the ‘Cookie Law,’ which is designed to help users gain a better understanding into how websites use cookies to track their behavior.

This website contains some affiliate marketing links, which means we get paid commission on sales of those products or services that are mentioned on this forum (most of you probably havent noticed these at all). Our editorial content is not influenced by advertisers or affiliate partnerships. We use a 3rd Party to enable these affiliate partnerships (only for ease of use). These actually bring in around £15 per month, which covers around 50% of the hosting costs - a figure that i'm more than happy with!

This income basically pays the running costs for the site (which thankfully aren't that great!). I have had no reports of any problems or issues using these - if you have please let me know.

We use one of two companies for these. We used to use Viglink exclusively, however I am currently trialling Skimlinks to see which one gives better returns.

Both of these are listed below along with their privacy policies as required by the EU directive :

Skimlinks :

Privacy Policy : http://skimlinks.com/privacy-policy#users

The cookies they use : http://skimlinks.com/user-cookies

OR

Viglink :

Privacy policy : http://www.viglink.com/policies/privacy

Vigilink policies : http://www.viglink.com/policies/ftc

I want to add that, other than the cookies as per above, we DO NOT AND WILL NEVER share any information gathered on the site itself with anyone else unless forced to do so by law.

If anyone has any problems please dont hesitate to drop me a line

Paul

Thanks for the info Paul

Let us know how the Skimlinks trial works out.

Damn, I thought you were looking into developing a new super cookie and wanted funding for the development - I would have been in. I was hoping for chocolate and hazelnut

Hi Paul,

Just tried to send some money via your contribute buttons and nothing happens. Any idea when these will be live?
