The Not the Welsh Classic, but the Dave Rolfe Memorial Classic, that's so classic it's classic, classic....

On Sunday Nick Marshall and I will be running the Classics tournament at the Slam. We're taking pre-registrations at the tournament desk from 3pm to 4pm on Saturday, or you can email SCSClassics@gmx.co.uk any time until Saturday evening. I won't be taking any money until Saturday at 3pm and again when we open on Sunday, so if you do pre-register before then it's just so I can pre-print your label and scorecard in advance, which will save a bit of queueing time!

We'll be scouting around at the slam for helpers, even half an hour would be appreciated, give us a shout if you're willing to give us a hand. And we have some fabulous orange hi-vis vests for that extra fashionable look while you're recording scores! Also I know a couple of people have already said that it will be ok for us to use their classic machines in the tournament, but if there's anyone taking classics to the slam who would be happy for us to use them, we'll be around on Saturday trying to work out which ones to put in!

It will be £5 per entry with a maximum of 2 entries. You can only purchase your second entry once your first entry has been played and you score card handed in, and subject to time/capacity. The rest of the rules are as follows - please have a read and if you have any questions give us a shout!

There will be 8 machines to choose from. You can play any 4 (inc same one) but max is 2 games per any one machine. Note that if you play the same machine more than twice, only the first two results will count and the remaining games on that machine will be lost and cannot be replayed. If there are players waiting to play the machine and you would like to play the same machine again, you must join the back of the queue.
Have your score recorded by any of the scorers (raise your hand when your game is finished).
Qualifying closes at 2:00pm, the top 3* scorers on each game will qualify for the play-offs.
*Should a player qualify on 2 or more machines their best % score will count, where % is calculated by the amount they have beaten the player below them.
2nd Round: The top qualifier on each machine gets one bye. The next 16 qualifiers will be split into 4 groups of 4, they will play a single 4-player game, with the top 2 proceeding to the quarter finals.
Quarter Finals: The top 8 players will play off head to head against the 8 qualifiers from round 2 in a head to head match, machines and players will be drawn at random at the start of the event and displayed.
Semi Finals: The final 8 will be split into 2 groups of 4 to play a 4-player game and decide the 4 finalists (top 2 from each match), machines and players will again be drawn at random.
Final: In homage to the Welsh Classic, the Final will be to Welsh Classic Rules. 3 round final, machines picked at random, with lowest scoring player dropping out in each round. At the beginning of the final, numbers will be drawn to decide playing order, which will remain throughout the final.
Any questions please let us know!

Thanks

Kate Morris
