Expired cirqus voltaire replacement neon

I was told that often when people think the neon needs replacing it's actually the power supply. Can anyone clarify?

it can be a faulty power supply gary ,there is no way of telling without testing the lamp ,a cheap neon hand held tester would tell you

I have had my CV for over 15 years and the neon has stopped working twice, both times its been the little power supply Box (sorry don't know what its called) and not the tube.

The 12 is for the volts ,as its running off your 12 volt supply
