I am after a new tablet. My ipad3 is about 5 years old and is terribly slow at browsing. All our laptops are faster and our android phones are faster at browsing too

All I want to use the tablet for is Internet browsing and watching downloaded TV.

Which one do you buy these days? Are some faster than others at Internet browsing? Do qualities of these things vary ?

Thanks

My kids both have Amazon Kindles which do the job of streaming Netflix etc and are dirt cheap. Interface can be a bit clunky. At the other end of the spectrum I have a Surface Pro which is just amazing. It's basically a desktop computer in tablet form. Expensive though.

Lol I have just bought a surface pro 3 with a cracked screen cheap cheap! going to crack it open and see if I can replace it?

It's an i3 with 4gb ram seems to be very quick and boots in about 5 seconds

It's a brilliant piece of kit. Worth getting the keyboard cover for it.

another iPad. I see it as a 3-4yr device, then migrate to a newer one, which is so incredibly simple to do.

Helps that we have 2 Apple TV’s around the house with decent WiFi/Ethernet networking infrastructure too, so you can easily transfer your screen to the tv.

iPad - nothing beats it - especially the current pro model with IOS 11. It multitasks plays video whilst you do stuff, multiapp and Windows. Just superb.

Android sucks as a tablet OS. Amazon ones are not bad for the money but clunky as hell. Surface is good but it’s not a tablet, it’s a laptop with a ****e keyboard that you can’t actually use on your lap.

Android wise I've got an old Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 which I liked for having ScummVM games on etc. but I just use an iPad Mini 4 for everything now. Works for me as it's smaller and lighter when travelling and it's a perfect size for apps like Comixology, great selection of games and lovely screen for Netflix - which is ace now you can save offline to watch when travelling :)
