I have never tried it but if you think the pictures you are looking at have been nicked from another advert like the ij just, why not using the www.tineye.com website? It does a reverse image search to see if the pictures are original or re used from somewhere else. Just an idea. I am sure other websites do the same too.

Great tips above to spot the scams.

Personally though, I'd always want to see it with my own eyes unless I knew the seller, even buying off here, or pay through an escow service. That might count you out of a few potential deals, but buyer beware is a good mantra.
