If you don't already have one of these, now is the time to get one. After May 1 the cashback is limited to £15 per month for new customers.

I've had one for over a year so now my cashback is limited to £15 per month, so I've just opened one in my wife's name for another year. It'll be getting hammered when we go to Disney later this year!

More unbiased info here:

(note that the savings account you get with it actually pays 3.1% interest now)

Thanks for the heads up @mark9.

After a little research of my own I went ahead and opened an account mainly due to the fact my pinball fund account earns basically next to nothing at 0.02%
This account which is only ever used for my pin hobby is always sitting with at least a NIB Stern LE sized amount in so Chase offering 3.5% interest and cash back on purchases seems a no brainer.
I had considered Santander 123 a few times but seemed a bit of a hassle so never bothered.
This Chase account is opened through their app and live within 10 mins. 🤩

Thx again.

You don’t get any interest in the current account, so I keep enough in there to cover any crazy purchases the wife makes (my 3 teenage kids also have the card on their phones). The rest goes in the savings account, it’s easy enough to move funds between accounts when you want to top up the current account. The savings account pays 3.1% not bad but not the best rate around , easy access app only accounts Chip and Tandem are better rates at the minute at 3.55% and 3.5%.

yep - i opened a chase current and saving account a few months ago, also like the round up feature!

santander are fookers. I'll tell you the full story one day col. it's unbelievable.

We shifted to the 123 account a few years back, never had any problem with them. Generally get around £40 out of them each month. I hated the idea of paying to have a bank account but it’s all been pretty smooth. The call line is pretty ****e though for a premium service.

Mind you there was a pretty low bar as before that we were with Virgin for years. They utterly hated me. For some reason they suddenly decided to refuse to let you take more than £1 grand out in a single transaction so was pointless for buying games. They would insist you had to make a range of transactions. So rather than type out 8 or so transactions myself I’d ring their helpline as otherwise it would always better flagged as fraud. The poor person on the other end of the line then had to do multiple transfers.

They also didn’t have an easy switching service so transferring the funds when I opened the new account took bloody ages 🤬

The current account will pay interest of 1% AER from 24th April.
