When the ball kicker in the trough activates it takes 3 kicks to get it to the out hole.
Would that be the coil or diode or both or something else?

Possibly some mechanical issue. The kicker arm not striking the ball correctly, something come loose , coil plunger sticking etc

As grizz says, its likely mechanical. There is a metal plate topside of playfield and that will get bent over time and you get the result you describe. Bend it back into hape and all should be fine.

It's this one that usually gets battered and causes the issue. Apron needs to come off to get to it.

Just got to this "Job card". The 27-100/plunger is really sticky so will take a look as to why. It does as you guys suggest might be the back plate too.
