Ccc it’s here !!

looking on a few US site's priced against other machines out now im guessing SE will be just shy of £8 k perhaps even more, real shame.

Really disappointed the dropped the classic edition … not at all a money grab ….
What a crock. I suppose it's more than just the different BOM, it's employing different graphic artists and keeping them on for the updates.

Time to dig up Scott the Dot #doho

@myPinballs can you do a DMD conversation for the LE? 🤣

Reminds me of champion pub ! You in for one gonzo?

At some point probably but it really does remind me of Champion Pub.

I'll be looking to get a JP or AIQ next but if this comes over first it's going to really test my resolve because it looks fantastic.

Maybe I should bite my tongue. That latest teaser vid looks great, and very sympathetic use of the classic gfx.

Great topper too!

Hope it has cowboys v aliens

Really impressed with MBR . TBH has to be SE on these due to the awesome display.

Hope the price isn't stupid as really fancy one of these and of course it will be on public play

I thought both editions have the new display. There's no classic which would have had the original display.

Dood I’ve got my original screen from MMR you can buy it off me and have that I’m getting old and gone blind and can’t make out the score moment again! It will slot right it and i’d be amazed if it didn’t work.

I played all the remakes now and MBr to me was best.
I like the topper, back glass and apron on this.
I played original cactus at Pinfest but couldn’t figure what was going on as couldn’t hear it. Someone was waiting in line so didn’t want to hog it.

Unfortunately never played it. Sound is reminiscent of that era MM, AFM. Like the idea of Lyman code being available latr. I take it’s a fairly easy game to complete as it stands..

Has Phil announced UK prices yet?

At one point that was the most expensive pin I ever bought , think @JustLikeMe still has it after I sold it " obviously " 😝

Yup, my dad still has it - think it's been ten years now! It was one of only two machines he kept when they downsized along with MM. He chose to keep it over MB, SS, and CV, although I did buy CV off him.

I think it's a hugely underrated game so I'm glad more are being made, and I'm excited to see what the new software looks like. I'm half tempted to say I'll cover the cost if he wants to upgrade to the remake....

Really disappointed there's no classic but really really disappointed you have to pay more for lyman code .... tbh that kind of a joke. I really cant believe they screwed the pooch on this one

How so? What's this about lyman code "coming later" and does this only apply to the LEs? Is it stock (albeit completed) code on release then upgrades later??

I think some clarity on the code line is needed. I can’t see them lining up Lyman for a code line and then not issuing it with the machine. Making users pay for another codeline would also be a first.

So its like this:

1; The game has the original code.
2: The game has expanded code - today with more stuff.

you get the above WITH the game now.

In the future you can get code written by Lyman but thats going to cost more.

Neil.

Thanks for the clarity Neil

That may or may not be an issue. Largely depends on the price. When someone brings out an update for any machine, unless you can blow an Eprom yourself you have to get it done and that involves some cost; be it paying someone to do it, or buying a replacement Eprom chip blown with the new code or buying the fuel to drive to your mates house who is going to blow the chip for you. As long as its only a few quid and not hundreds…
EDIT …and the machine will be cheaper than a Stern to start with!

Which surely doesn't scale well commercially with only a limited customer base. This isn't multi-million user Minecraft for god sake.

Lets say they make 5k machines total (huge), 50% take the DLC (huge), how much does that have to cost to really make it a worthwhile model?

$500? Get lost. No way. $250? Maybe? But for minor software improvements? Still expensive. And which appeal to only the hardcore few... 25% uptake? So $300k...?

With those example numbers they've just coined $40M in sales ffs, so 300k is small fry and you're penny pinching from your customers who just spent top money with you.

I'm gobsmacked tbh. Almost think it must be bs

Absolutely agree with you. Thinking about it, the customer base isn’t large enough for a ‘micro payment’ model of DLC. It would only take a few days before the code would be available as a rip-off anyway in that case (not that I condone such behaviour). There are a lot of very skilled techs in the pinball community and it doesn’t pay to try and rip them off :)

It's equivalent to Walt Disney world in Florida removing free fastpasses and replacing it with a paid-for option.....

Hang on a minute..... They did!

Completely agree with you. Whilst i couldnt condone such behaviour, i would completely understand it.

Everyone is trying to re-coup their Covid losses... Thing is, people just pay it because they can - currently.
Then in 3 years time... after a couple of years of being able to go on hols etc again... People wont pay it... as they wont be able to afford it. And (Hopefully) the whole bunch that were doing this will end up going to the dogs.
It's just Greedy.... Give these things 12-18 months and they would sort themselves anyhow.

G-R-E-E-D.....
