Hello! I have finally managed to get BSD out of storage and set up again...but it's not booting fully. It has 5V. Everything is lighting on the boards. DMD not doing anything. D19 stays on. D20 not lit. D21 lit. I have reseated all the cables. What should I check next?

Thanks!

That ASIC can be pesky. If you do need to pull it to give it a clean make sure you buy a cheap puller. Those are only a couple of squids.

I took out the game chip earlier and put it back in. I've tried pressing the ASIC but it made no difference. I'll try pulling it tomorrow as I'm having to work in the dark by torchlight. Cheers!

Does D20 flash at all during startup? If so there are flash codes that can help diagnosis :

Problem Power-On CPU D20 (diagnostic) Flash Codes:
blinks ONE time: U6 CPU game ROM bad
blinks TWO times: U8 CMOS RAM chip bad
blinks THREE times: U9 WPC custom chip bad

Try booting without any of the peripheral boards connected (ie only power and mpu). Remove ribbons cables for the other three. See if that changes the LED sequence on the MPU.

Sometimes the dmd/sound card misbehaving can stop the mpu booting.

Thanks everyone, I have fixed it :)

I tried all the suggestions and that helped narrow it down to that board. After playing around with the crocodile clips that connect the remote battery holder I got a flashing D20. Reconnected all the ribbons and it's back to being playable! :)

Thanks!

Now get soldering and loose the crocodile clips [emoji106]

No chance! I almost thought about a colour DMD set to red only, but you can't mess with perfection.
The best thing about pinsound is that you retain the original sounds but can switch to the alternatives. Someone spent an inordinate amount of time creating a new sound scheme that uses the original movie quotes and music. I also love the std sound but the alternate is awesome and really brings the spooky feel of the movie into the game

It does sound pretty cool actually....although not very 'musical'. Maybe one day. Definitely prefer the original though.
