Something incredible happened yesterday at the world famous Pinball Republic.
Yesterday was the British Masters Classics. PBR was joined by 2 Belgian invaders, including Timber Engelbeen who is the reigning IFPA European Pinball Champion, reigning British Masters champion and currently ranked number 7 in the world, he is quite simply one of the best players on the planet.
The top 24 qualified and in the quarter finals Timber was grouped with a certain Lucy Vince (currently ranked 3010th in the world). Timber was the highest qualifier in their group so had the privilege of picking games, Lucy proceeded to dismantle the games, smashing the group and Timber in the process.
That is an incredible achievement in itself, to win that group with Timber picking games, well anyone in the world would be happy with that. But Lucy was not done!!
In the semi finals Lucy made it through again against some of PBR's best, absolutely superb.
And then to the final, Lucy was joined again by Timber, the other Belgian supremo Korben Van Wonterghem and the number 1 qualifier and PBR beast Big Dave Fowler. To say that Lucy was the massive underdog would have probably been correct, that is to say, unless you know what Lucy is capable of!
First game up was Cheetah! Lucy was player 3, taking the win in game 1 with an incredible 2.6m points! Those are 4 brilliant scores on Cheetah!!
Timber won game 2 on Blackout but Lucy managed to get second, meaning going into the final game they were tied on 6 points and it was between Lucy and Timber for victory!!
The final game was Hot Hand, after 2 balls, Lucy and Timber were separated by 2k points
Lucy finished with 143k, with Timber on 83k and his final ball to play, he started his chase playing with control and calm, but then drained, would his bonus be enough to take him over Lucy??
No!! Timber finished 4k points short of Lucy's score!!
LUCY VINCE WINS, LUCY VINCE IS THE BRITISH MASTERS CLASSICS CHAMPION!!!
What an incredible achievement, absolutely superb. Well done Lucy, take a bow
