Ok so here she is, as it stands I’ve been told it’s a non working machine I’m looking forward to getting stuck in over the next few months. If anyone has any tips on system 6’s or that blackout plastic near the pop’s don’t hesitate to let me know. Thanks

You know I took a look at those batteries first and I was thinking they must be 30 years old !!!! there was no leakage at all !!!! boards in general look nice tbh

It’s alive !!!! Just! All I've managed to get for far is the lights to go on on the back box - flashers are working also. There was initially no power to the machine at all but that turned out to be a broken on / off toggle. My next course of action is a full set of correct value fuses. if anyone has any tips to look out for dont hesitate to shout. as it stands there is no power reaching the boards .

I hope you took all the connections (bar what's needed from the transformer) off the power board before powering on and took readings?

It’s nice alright. In closer inspection the boards had had a rough life so are all off to my Pinball’s to get proper attention. Annoyingly the flippers are slack and worn the Playfield, there’s also quite afew cupped inserts. The main Playfield seems to have a healthy covering of Mylar which although has crazed had kept the paint in place.

Boards getting a service as we speak from myPinballs.

Can I ask why you needed to bypass the coin up switch? The older Williams games don't have an assigned function for free play, but it is available by setting Maximum Credits to zero.

Yes true but I didn’t know that at the time so I tripped the switch and got a credit next time I’m working on it I’ll be setting the credits to 00

One thing I noticed is that the drop targets are tight to the rubbers - originally the bolt underneath holding the soli was slack so i tightend the both up but now I think they were perhaps set that way to allow for slack in the movement .

Sorry if I seemed superior there, but I had a picture of wires being added to the coin switch, running to an additional button somewhere. That wasn't unknown with the contemporary Bally games, which really didn't have a free play option.

Well I've serviced the drop targets - now super slick but since I've pit the playfield back in the machine my sound issues have grown to almost no sound at all i think it is the power. its crackly further investigation needed but ran out of time for today

unlikely to be power as you’d get nothing if a voltage was missing. Sound dc voltages are generated on the board

I’d check volume pots first , the one in the cab if there’s crackle

i span the volume pot a few times in either direction and couldn't hear any discernible difference. i also ran the sound test on the board and it was very intermittent. the cable 3 pin running fro the sound board to the cab volume pot looks very iffy. i ran out of time today might get some more time tomorrow or later this week. i had weak sound then reset the cable that runs from eh volume pot and got louder sound then got intermittent sound -- ahh it wouldn't be pinball if it worked lol :)

Just to clarify the sound completely drops out and you hear no effects from either background effects or switch hits then it will sometimes be just the odd sound or switch hit that activated sound - sound test only partly played and then went silent I’ll get video at some point

Quick video as to were we are at the moment - almost all speech and sound all the time - reset all chips and cleaned all pins now I’ve noticed I’ve lost the Playfield GI
