In Progress Black knightmare

Im loving this thread, for someone who claims he don’t know what he’s doing that’s a hell of a task to take on.
Keep up the great work!

By the end, you may as well have created an breadboard project

I’ve been back at it throwing components on the board.. yes the connector is odd but that’ll make sense later.
Just need the relay and some chips

Decided whilst I’m waiting for chips I’d start replacing a couple bits on the power supply as voltages are a touch low here and there..

Thought I’d just it in to test voltages and the little Shiite ic16 went hot!
Anyone got any 2114’s?

Prob didn’t help that I put my pia in upside down.. shut up! Shut up!
Too many lead fumes me thinks...

My +5v regulator was looking a little low at 4.6 so I ordered a new one at £10 posted

Fitted the little Shiite and I get 0.89v great!

Aren’t these checked before post?

I had an old Bally board in the cabinet so I’ve robbed the 5+ off that for now so I can continue testing..

Old tech is nearly always the best ?

Luckily @James had some better quality working pia chip that he donated to the cause through freebie Friday - thank you

Still waiting on bits so nothing new to report if I’m honest..

I was thinking about the plans with this machine tother day and I’m not sure my woodworking and art skills are up to any workable standard lol.

So I think this will just be an electrics style project for me..

Two possibilities..

Do the fun stuff and pass it on to someone who likes the arty stuff
Or
Clean and seal in the hole machine and have it as a cloudy diamond?

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mind having a crack at a playfield one day, so might be interested if you sell...

That is taking it to another level, BK I can mess up and be fine with, TAF, whilst I don't like it, others would be mad!

Small update..

Got my 74ls02 chips turn up... well so I thought!

Looks correct huh?

Marked as ‘LS’ but sent an HC..
Can’t run other 74LS outputs to an 74HC or AVR Input so thus making these useless?

Run the LS test and these fail

Any ideas?

Got some Roms from @Paul so I did some main board testing and got a pass ?

Time to strip the back box then..

remember woodworm are usually only active around march to september, you may treat it and think great it's cured then next year it looks like stevie wonder has been trying to hit the dart board again

No pressure washer.. I used caravan cleaner and a nail brush ?

I will be re pinning all of the connectors so wasn’t too worried about the moisture.

Dishwasher is a good call but I’d be worried that the loom could get caught up in the spinning jet?

Definitely historic worm.. not that the holes will get any better but at least they won’t get worse lol

I’m going to treat it either way and I have access to the good stuff. Injecting and spraying the stuff prior to repairs and after repairs and then again before finishing

I like the sparky stuff but I’m losing my mojo with this machine right now due to the woodwork that’s needed
