BKSoR tweaks

I'm having 2 minor issues with my BKSoR:
  1. After playing for half an hour or so, the flippers lose their punch, and making the sword(flail?) ramp to the upper PF becomes very difficult. I've read other people on pinside have the same issue and worked around it by installing fans to cool the flipper coils - but that's revolting. Anyone fitted something like the "LOTR coils" to this game? Good idea or heresy?
  2. Occasionally, the shield VUK doesn't land the ball on the wireform correctly, but instead it bounces onto the playfield, screaming for my right flipper. Should I start fiddling with that coil's strength in the adjustments? Or maybe Big Helga already knows the answer? :D
Thanks

I keep seeing more and more about flippers under performing when they get hot, Stranger Things is apparently one of the worst for it, a Pin I want to own. Seems like they aren't fit for purpose and buying flipper fans is another additional expense when you buy a new Pin.

Putting fans on flipper coils because they're under-dimensioned is just a bodge. I'd rather replace them with ones that are fit for purpose. It's not even very warm in my games room (probably around 10°C today).

drastically change the electronics of the game and re-write the software.
That sounds like a fun project actually :D

But not sure I'm following you - LOTR coils aren't dual-wound and they're beefier, why wouldn't they be a drop-in replacement?

LOTR also suffers from this though although the did update the coils for the LE.

maybe it would work. The coils are matched to the power you need on the flippers so putting other coils in might make the game less playable. For me the fans give you want you want without the risk of affecting game play too much.

Neil.
