What's you favourite mid-range Stern? I might get another one for my next game to free up some cash. I've had a few of these in the past and had good fun with them. Especially Sopranos. What would you go for?

Spiderman get my vote.
Having said that Spiderman is nudging over 4K these days for a nice one.

not sure Star Trek is a sub 4K game unless its a dog.

Neil.

As above. I bought and sold a very nice Star Trek for bang on 4. If that's now changed vote for something else. I kinda meant a cap of 4k really.

WPT is sub 4K and having recently bought one I would definitely recommend you consider it.

It seems to get ignored by most people:- it doesn't have a sexy, "Hollywood Block Buster" theme to pull you in.

And no toys on it either. Unless you count the poker hand in the middle of the playfield.

And yet it's still loads of fun.

It's got a pretty deep rule set but it's not difficult to understand, there's just lots to discover. It implements the poker theme nicely with humour and good animations. The modes are much more imaginative than on many Sterns.

Shoots very well (Steve Ritchie design). It feels a mixture of controlled stop-start in single ball play, fast and flowing (frantic even) in multiball . And there are a lot of different multiballs if you like those - which I do.

The upper playfield actually plays well and adds lots to the game.

Plus one more thing that may or may not be a plus point for you - it's not brutal. Even a pinball numpty like me can squeeze a decent game out of it.

I'm not saying it's the best Stern, that's subjective, but I'm loving mine and for the money you get a lot of pin.

Plus you get Mike Sexton with a freakishly long hand. This can never be unseen

Family guy ... you will like that one as well dude , as long as you like the show and farts and who doesn't like farts or a sexy party 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's quite a short list, "others" category includes: Batman Dark Knight, Ripleys Believe It Or Not, Avatar, BIg Buck Hunter, Sopranos, CSI, Wheel Of Fortune, NASCAR,Grand Prix, Monopoly, Family Guy, Shrek, Sopranos, Mustang, Avengers, Austin Powers, Playboy, High Roller Casino, Sharkey’s Shootout, 24, Rolling Stones.. (that's just the post 2000 titles)

Tron is on the 4k line and fantastic game. I didnt exactly have ST PRO flying out the door at 4k but eventually went to Germany at that

Sopranos must be a sleeper as back in the day (around 2015) I had 4 all at £1500 and was glad to get £1800 a peice as just didnt do anything for me

I definitely remember more than one Star Trek struggling at 4k on here. That said we're living in different pinball times I guess where people are paying North of 3 grand for some absolute garbage 90's games

Totally agree. And a new Stern Pro is £7k.

SEVEN !

I’m assuming Transformers isn’t a bad game; just rare. WPT is the first pin I’ve owned and I’m glad I went for it- as has been said, the theme integration is great and the code is deep for the money. Told myself I’d change the translite but actually don’t mind it anymore, plus the wife has stopped complaining. Has anyone played a Mustang, Playboy or NBA? All seem like rare machines

I’d say IM with SM a close second. Depends on what you’re looking for - IM is brutal, short ball times, simple rules and massive risk reward. SM is easier, longer ball times, deeper rules and very satisfying on a good game.

I tend to skew towards short and brutal, one great game out of ten type games because it keeps me coming back for more. If that’s your thing then IM is the way to go. If not, then SM is a great game on the other end of the spectrum.

I’d happily have either again.
