Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. By Spooky

So so tempted by this as it’s a dream theme, but would never put down a deposit before seeing a game! Hopefully there’ll be spots left after the announcement.

Will have to shift a couple of games to fund it, but it’s worth it for Beetlejuice!
A lot of the american distributors have refundable deposits at this point. That's why no one cares there.

Same, it is insanity + non-refundable deposits. Just not a game I am willing to play - total madness.

Get your trigger fingers ready for 14th November. Might be too late by then though.

i totally get people not wanting to put deposits down unseen however thats the risk you take when distributors are taking deposits before reveal and potentially selling out prior to release day... but like Del Boy says "He who dares Rodney" sometimes you've got to go balls deep and pull the trigger.

I think its going to be epic and a theme to die for and i cant wait for everyone to have a good winge when they cant get one !!!

Except its no risk at most distributors because they're refundable until a few days after full reveal. I get why they've all done it across the pond.

Comitting £2k towards £13.5k sight unseen just because they made a good pinball last time.

That's SAS levels of courage alright.

It just how it is over here and in other countrys ... people are prepared to put the money up site unseen and in doing so you either do the same or risk not getting one...

im sure they'll be some to be had relax everyone !!!

Agreed on both counts - I am certainly interested, but I am not rich enough to gamble 2k on it being good. I lost out on Evil Dead as well, possibly my favourite horror film (the second one at least), so I am still smarting from that - but Spooky are using that Evil Dead FOMO here... a game for the rich or ultra Beetlejuice fans I guess...

im not rich im just wreckless with money 😂😂😂😂

Phil does non refundable because he has gone shafted on multiple occasions by goodwill and ordering more then his allocation because of FOMO and people ordering then not paying once they didn't like what they seen

Prime example Munsters... It was super hyped as a 3 level modern haunted house everyone got their name down for an LE without deposit... think it was like 10 or 12 LE's and when the revealed majority dropped out and Phil was stuck with them for years

Imagine paying out £100,000 cause he pays upfront for them and then everyone sticking their middle finger up and you, thats a lot of cash just sitting in a warehouse

Deposit might be non refundable but you can sell you spot on here... Risk I'm willing to take on a Goonies

Certainly not saying he's wrong to do non-refundable. In fact I wish all the distributors did non-refundable, would make people think twice about pre-pre-order scalping. Just a warning to the UK buyers that the level of commitment made by US buyers where it's currently all gone is not the same level you will be making.

And that you're a brave person to do it without seeing the machine, you can only really sell your spot if it turns out to match the hype.

This thread is a whole new level of crazy for his hobby. It used to be you were taking the chance having not played it personally but watched the reveal videos. Now people are basically committing 13k odd without even seeing a picture. If money is no object then I can sort of understand but I’d bet 99% of people on here are not in that position. People need to wake up.

It’s also a spooky game. I’ve read all the comments that spooky have up’d their game on build quality with evil dead. That’s yet to be proven over here. There are only a few in the country to date and I know one of them has had the hood up tweaking and replacing a fair few things. I’ve owned 2 spooky games and they were a pain in the ass. Always having to do something or other. It felt like the build quality was on a homebrew level. Basic things not right. Spooky will have to consistently prove the quality is better over say 3 titles before I’m even tempted to buy another one of their games nib.

Imo the fomo is bull****. Phil will have an allocation set up. Watch the reveal straight away. If you are tempted then call him.

I’ve heard all this talk of you’ll never get one if you don’t buy blind. Nonsense. If you are patient I’ve never not been able to get a game I want. I will bet that at least a couple of evil dead are listed on here or sell behind the scenes within a year of it arriving in peoples homes. Same with Dune. Same with everything.

The pinball craziness fomo disease is alive and kicking

I'll be waiting for reveal before seriously thinking about a deposit partially because Spooky do have a very hit or miss track record. Love Evil Dead, Scooby and TCM but really really hate Alice Cooper and Halloween. Hoping they've learnt their lesson and from what they've been saying on pinside with clip availability and how easy WB were as a licensor I'm confident they'll do a hell of a job.

Beetlejuice is really my dream theme that hasn't been made (has been made, it's Spinal Tap and it was one of the worst days of my life when I played that game at Pinfest) and ever since I've gotten into the hobby I've wanted it as a theme. I remember hearing about the Stern rumours years after it had happened and resigning it to never be made because of that, so to see it get announced is pretty cool.

Couldn't agree more! Build quality from Spooky from my experience is poor. I've only owned one Spooky and I hated the game instantly and sold it on at a heavy loss within a week. New owner had all sorts of issues and repalced half of it. He now has a relaible machine but has literally spent a fortune getting it there. Evil Dead played great and the temptation to buy could have been there if I hadn't owned a previous Spooky, so I doubt any previous owners have FOMO for Beetlejuice. If JJP had announced Beetlejuice, I actually might have put a tentative offer in to buy one unseen. Spooky/Beetlejuice I'm absolutely on the fence! Theme works for me, loved the film - but the manufacturer and gameplay from previous games, law of averages says Evil Dead was their hit and they will have a few misses again. Really want to be wrong, but without reviews, this could be a huge loss - so absolutely, for me, I'm not commitng to buy until I see it, and if I miss out, fine! Really want Spooky and smaller firms to hit it out the park so genuinely hope its great, but blind buying, what are people thinking!

The game by all accounts is completely sold out round the world pre release apart so far from good old conservative UK , there’s definitely a hunger for anything collectible and anything that currently isn’t the lazy stern efforts, there seems to be so many stories that this game is going to be transformative that it feels hard to sleep on…but it may not be the case , you take your chances in life !
