“Baywatch will be ri” (it’s a Baywatch joke, you wouldn’t understand)

Ok folks so picked up this Baywatch end of May.
It was a sorry state. Never had any love. But it did have a colour display so that’s a bonus. Otherwise, tatty cab, filthy, bits broken etc…

I couldn’t bare to flip a game on it due to the filth. Every game was another bit of sand paper killing it in my eyes. Plus the skill shot kicker was broken so couldn’t play it properly anyway on skill shot or modes.
Most bulbs were silvered, had some acid
Damage on the battery holder thankfully hadn’t progressed further.

I lost the will with it after I stripped it down and left it in a box of bits for a few months but then I broke my foot and had a few weeks to kill so I cracked on.

The large wire form took me four hours to polish. It was so tarnished.
All told I probably had ten hours in polishing the wire forms.
Then all the top side parts and then all the underside mechs. I reckon not far off 150 hrs. Sitting at my table plodding along.



I removed the mpu and cleaned the acid damage and remoted the batteries.
Sourced a new skill shot actuator, new star posts, rubbers, leds etc..
New legs as it had the incorrect ones.

And after. It cleaned up ok. Will never be great unless I redecal the cab, which I’m considering as it’s a great game. Need to rebuild the flippers as they’re weak as **** and can’t really make the ramp. I’ve shallowed the playfield angle to help in the mean time. Can’t afford those at the minute so it’ll have to wait. I might take @huggers advice and get the GnR kit.

Many hours of fettling to get that skill shot sweet.

Pretty much done on this. Still need to clean the lockdown receiver and add the Titan decal to it.

Looks fantastic mate. Definitely would like to see the Pin2DMD video. The GnR coils make the game shoot like a modern Stern, you can loop the tower ramp over and over no problem, very cool. Shame I didn't know I could have got you some with mine to save you on postage from the US.

That’s the dream right there mate. Nevermind I hadn’t played mine since I got it so I didn’t know the flippers were ****.

Mate that looks superb! Thanks for the vid. I'm not convinced a Colour DMD is worth twice the money of one of these in this instance.

Just had some games on mine. There's no other pin that makes me smile like this one. Game is so funny and the shots all feel so satisfying. I especially like the CJ hole.... Make of that what you will. Also, I'm struggling to think of a better 'replay' animation. Cracks me up every time.

@Spandangler is near enough that I shall not need to want my own, although if I should I could trade Diner for it, I know he's already got one but some people like to have two right?

Ouch that hurt. I used to have 2 baywatch until recently too but now I am a reformed character. Diner no 2 is currently undergoing refurbishment and main cabinet is almost complete so maybe by new year I will be finished and down to 1 diner. Next up is another of your favourites but it's a keeper as I only have one.

The third skill shot: is there a way to extend the time the gate is open at the bottom. By the time my ball gets there it closes 9/10.

Have you updated to the Chad code? Mine has had it since I got it and the 3rd skill shot works okay.
