Going from bad to worse here guys.
While DMD is being (hopefully) repaired, I removed the PPB and replaced the J5 GI header pins then added a molex connector.

I cleaned the board in isopropyl alcohol. Then did the CPU as they were black in places.
Switched back on. Seemed like there was a bit of a bang.
I turn the machine on, GI illuminates and get “Baywatch will be right back” (actually finishes the sentence which is unusual).
When, the relay on the power board clicks in, the GI cuts out, and it doesn’t play the usual music.
1. If I open the coin door (which cuts HV to the play field) the GI comes on again. Close it, GI goes out.
2. If I disconnect CPU cn12 (Drive: coils 9-16) and boot up, the relay doesn’t click in and GI stays on. But no music etc.
3. If I boot the machine with the coin door open it starts playing music. I then hit the ‘enter test’ button on the coin door and I get “help is on the way” so I know the test menu loads.
Bridge rectifier is fine. Fuses all fine. The CPU has the two left hand LEDS lit to show ‘normal operation’.
Anyone know what I should be trying next? Is there a way to test the coils? Anything else? Seems an odd coincidence that I messed around with it and then it went pop.
