Bathroom mood lighting advise?

No sure if anyone dan help out here but nothing ventured nothing gained i suppose.

I'm having a total bathroom refit. the walls and floor will be tiled floor to ceiling.The wife's picked out a slipper roll top bath and wants led mood lighting behind/under it.
I've been advised by friends to set two sets of colour changing LEDs on two facing walls at skirting level to shine back and forth.


Anyone know where to get some?
There are some on eBay but I'm dubious of the quality and don't want them failing shortly down the line.
Some sort of control would be nice as I would like them to run indepentant of main lighting.

my builder is a very competent guy and said he'll ask around but I would like to see some options online.

work starts in may so please help if you know any specialists tat are any good.

I vote dump the idea, forget the bath, fit a shower and you can fit another machine in... RESULT!!!

Seriously tho, the only thing i would say is beware of really cheap LED's from China or those that have been imported and sold cheaply. They will, as is with most cheap tat, give off much less light and also not last as long as more expensive ones...

I keep getting emails from "http://www.lightingdirect-online.co.uk" who i have bought from before - and whilst they arent cheap, they sure look perrty....

There is loads of available LED strip lighting that is waterproof on ebay:

I used 3528 for down lighting in my kitchen but would consider the larger 5050 for a bath room as each LED is brighter. Run the wires up and feed it from the ceiling for the safety with water aspect. You can cut and add sections with this and make it fit the space you want, very easy to wire up too. My 3528 is barely noticeable on the electricity meter.

If you go for RGB, it comes with a remote control with 24 or 44 light colour options but after a while you will probably stick to two or three favourites The thing is that to get RGB you will have a Red, a Green and a Blue in the space where a single light strip would have had three reds for example, so each colour will appear darker. However, it is fun when friends come over.

Go for those ultra expensive Phillips 'Hue' light bulbs. You can control them via your iphone/android phone via a wireless bridge and make any colour combo possible with them from your phone. About £180 for 3 bulbs, the wireless bridge and the app. :jaw:
