Hi,

I am restoring a Banzai Run at the moment, there is some damage to the backbox, beyond my skillset to touch up, so I thought I would order a replacement set of decals from Mr PInball in Australia.

They have arrived and I am underwhelmed with the quality. Colours are muted, there is banding in the printing, image is blurry and the overall look is just wrong.

The reds in particular are MILES off being right.

Did look around at all options before ordering, but they seem to be the only source.

Any advice on alternate options? Not sure I want to ruin the original artwork with sanding and filling to only overlay a set of artwork with different issues.

Anyone in the UK offering cabinet retouch services?

Cheers

Cris

First thing I would do is get in contact with the supplier and add some photos of the faults.

I’ve just ordered a set from them for my T.Z …fingers crossed

@Happypin Yes, I have dropped them a message to see if there is a quality issue or my expectations are too high.

Attached a couple here, what do you think? I would expect a brand new print to have better colours than a 35 year old screen print?

The banding is worst in the red, but you can see it through most of the print....

I would of done the same, if your not happy now once fitted the feeling would be much deeper.
it took me 3 lots of decals for my WH20 before I fitted them, the first 2 both was refunded with no complaints, very understanding people.
Ant-H has bought from them and was very happy so that’s why I ordered my T.Z from them.

Yeah I would send them an email. As Alan mentioned, I recently ordered 7 sets of decals from them, (not Banzi run unfortunately) and I would say that the ones I received were the best quality that I’ve seen when compared to other decals I’ve had that were not silk screened.

Did you order them his eBay account? As I can’t see them on his website.

If you did get them from eBay, if you not happy with his reply or ant come to an agreement, then at least you should be covered by eBay’s buyer guarantee and return them without an issue.

Ok. So all in all I’m pretty happy. Slightly lighter than the original and obviously nothing compares to the original.
They have slight soft focus blur to the detail which is to be expected I suppose.
I’ve seen in person the pinballdecals.eu version and they’re awful. Registration is out by a mile. Zoomed in too much. Way darker. The Mr pinball decals are far better. Nice texture to them
The service was superb. Ordered on the 18th July. Arrived today. No extra fees incurred.
A couple of pics of original cab and then the new decals.IMG_1133.jpegIMG_1132.jpeg

A friend of mine is in the process of having pin glass panels made
His own idea / creation and I know banzi run is going to get done soon as he has 2 machines himself he wants to do if it’s of any intrest to anyone I would be more than happy to pass on contact info to get in touch

What is this sorcery you speak of

I spy Kongman 😀. I love that game!

In regards to the decals, I think they look good. The texture was one of the things that I liked about the decals I received from him.

So are they similar to the glossy Rad Cals panels?

This sounds interesting. Got any pictures?

Had a bit of back and forth on eBay, they are looking at the problem but so far have basically said "It's a digital print, what do you expect." (I'm paraphrasing).

Plenty of decals I've had in the past have managed to get a decent look without banding etc... and there is no excuse on the dull colours in my opinion, modern inks can produce a vibrant red just fine.

Decided that these are not good enough to even think about putting them on the machine. I'd rather stick with the damaged original artwork.

I'll update with any solution they come back with.

Sorry been a busy couple of days yes here are some pics of one that has been done but this is nothing to do with me it’s just from past talking with him I know that banzi is going to be done soon but I know any pinball can be done and it’s U.K. based if anyone is intrested I can pass on detail information or if you want to follow his page on Instagram it’s
Paragon_pinball
But from previous talks in the past all can also be customised to have anything in there that you would like …. which I thought was a nice touch if your thinking of doing one that will never leave you and is bolted to the floor lol

Ohhhh dear this is not looking good.

Getting a bit of attitude back from Mr Pinball. I haven't asked for a refund or made any demands. Just sent the same pictures posted here asking if the prints I have are faulty.

I've been told they have other things to do and I should rip up the prints I have, take a photo for a refund.

Totally confused at this end. They had promised to do some test prints and make some improvements and send over some pictures. They said it would be the next day. I left it more than 2 before asking how they are getting on. Back came this attitude.

So I can only assume the digital files themselves are bad, and they don't sell enough of them to justify working them.

I've asked for clarification before I rip up the prints. Super disappointing.

I'm surprised about this attitude, this is so damaging for the business, all pinheads belong to a forum of some sort and can tell others of their experiences. I hope this gets sorted because they are clearly not good.
Mine arrived today and are perfect.

Update - They have shipped me a new set of prints. They have sent photos and the banding has totally gone.

Not quite sure why they couldn't just say the first set were faulty and they would be replaced once the fault with the printer was sorted, but that is what happened.

I think the colours are still going to be quite muted compared to the original, but should provide a better overall finish for the machine (I hope!).

They took over a month to arrive last time, but I will update once they have arrived.

Certainly glad I didn't just fit the first set!
