anyone know if it's possible to pick a complete new backbox (the standard one that came on many BW games like medieval and monster bash?)

Very hard to find used. Even if you can, it would probably be ruined by water damage.

If you are competent with two part wood filler, even horrendous cabs with chunks out, corners missing can be made to look like new.

Manny at Woodtec used to make them. Pricey though. You will find him on facebook

I have a used one, no dings but has suffered damp and only had some white mould no swelling I can see, of course it would need prep work.
