In Progress Bally Vector - Serial Number: EVE2999

Nice one. Vector is cracking game, with a very unique flipper feel - but loads on here will tell you different. Don't you listen!

That playfield from what i can see doesn't look too bad - just a bit of wear around the drops?

I've never seen so many dead spiders before! This machine was definitely left in a garage or shed for years before being purchased.

Made a start stripping down the head unit yesterday. Lots of rusty staples rusting through the bulb sockets and wiring.

Makes sense to replace every rusty staple with stainless steel staples.

Fully intend to restore the MPU and selonoid driver board once everything is restored. All other boards seem to be working fine and in good condition.

lots of Leaking battery fluid all over the MPU board. Seems to be cleaning up well using isopropyl alcohol - definitely not the worst I’ve seen. A couple of tracks will need soldering or a bodge wire.

The selonoid driver board just needs recapping, a new transistor, diode and resister - should be good to go after that 🤞🏻

Thanks for the encouraging words about Vector👍🏻

I didn’t realise it was such a marmite game when I bought it 😬

I guess I just love anything that looks really 80s with Vector in the title🤓

It should look good beside my wall of Vectrex units when it’s finished 🤣

You’re right, the playfield doesn’t look that bad 👍🏻

Should hopefully clean up well after a few touch ups.

Lookiing forward for you to get this up and running another machine up and running :) and we all can have a debate on that upper right flipper ,what size should it be ,big or small ;)

PS if you need any of the smaller plastics I may have some some where

How are you planning to touch up the playfield?
Do you intend to protect it afterwards? If yes how?

An absolutely stunning pinball machine to look at. Double backglass, chaser lights, Tron type theme that perfectly suits the art and sounds of that era ....

Lots of haters out there. But Vector is almost a high Point of pinball art/ theme IMHO and from the high watermark of proper Bally design. Not Fathom, I know, but bloody close in terms of visuals.

Finally removed all the copper wiring, rusty staples and bulb sockets - next job sanding, filling and painting.

Anyone know a good place to buy replacement 555 bulb sockets? Lots of rusty contacts, might just replace them all 🤔

Anyone know Keith Best from Pinball Express? Think I might have one of his old machines? 🤔

Found his card beside the serial number under the playfield.
