Hi all im new to pinballinfo, I have a Bally Star Trek some of the playfield inserts above the lights have sunk down about 1 to 2 mm, does anyone know how they are fixed in ?
Are they glued in or just a push fit , I don't want to risk breaking them. Plus am I able to buy new ones anywhere, as some of the red ones have faded badly, Thanks in advance
Mick.

Hi Mick @Mickp welcome to the forum

The inserts are glued in but if they've sunk then that glue will have started to break down. Heat them up from underneath with a hairdryer and gently tap them out (a suitably sized socket from a socket set is good for this). Clean up the hole and the edges of the removed insert and then re-fit level and re-glue from underneath.

You can get replacement inserts for Bally games but the main place is in the US and is called The Pinball Resource and unfortunately there's some issues with them shipping to the UK post brexit. Pinball Mania in the UK may have some so worth giving Andy a shout through his website:

https://pinparts.co.uk/

The other place that might have them is Marco Specialties in the US and they do ship to here:

I’ve just redone some inserts on my bally 8 ball deluxe.

Before you glue it in - sand it flat, they often get “cupped” through use. Sand with 240-5000 grit. the finer grits (3000-5000) will effectively polish it.

Yes they are cupped, and I think I can get replacement numbers and letters from pinball heaven, thank you for your help
