Bally backbox bulb holder replacement

I have about half a dozen backbox bulb holders which appear faulty. Tried cleaning the contacts, made sure the contacts are tight but still no joy. Getting voltage across the rear of the contacts but less than 1V. Tried re-seating the wires in case the insulation wasn't quite cut through enough but it's not that. Would anyone agree the holders have had it? If so, who supplied new ones and how do they come out? Thanks in advance for any help or info.

Is it just some of them? It may be that they are all on the same circuit?

If they are all on the same circuit I suspect your problem will be elsewhere.

I would be surprised if so many holders died at the same time. There are much more knowledgeable guys than me on this site who can be more helpful. But might there be a short somewhere that is compromising all of them. Is damaged insulation? Maybe gently wiggle the wires and the lighting circuit connector to see if something changes.

Its just some of the holders in a line of about 20 odd. voltage is there so i dont think its problem from the board. Tried wiggling wires but nothing changed.

Hi Carl, I don't have an old / spare bulb holder to try that. Actually its on a machine you have owned. CFTBL. Its in the circuit of flashers. About 6 of them just don't work. All the rest in the chain work fine. I measured the voltage across the working flasher holders and it its ranging up to 6.4V, the non working holders only range up to about 1V. Any clues? surely its just got be knackered holders?

yes i did spot that kev put it up on ebay a bit back !!
yes i tuck it to daventy last year !!

right so we no now its the flashers on the backbox on a creech ,first port of call for me would be checking the conection to the power board most likely needs reseating

has it just gone down !!

Hi Carl, I'm not sure if its your actual old machine I meant it was a title you had owned in the past. Anyhow I rigged up a little tester similar to your pic. Basically a couple of wires soldered to an old bulb and put it across the "dodgy" holder terminals. It lights up on all of them. Good news. Got them all working now apart from one. Basically very dirty terminals and not gripping the bulb tightly enough. Must have had to try each holder about 5 times before success. The one I can't get going has broken terminals that grip the bulb. Not too much of a problem as its only one although if anyone has one it would be nice if they all worked! Jon

If you have dirty terminals flip the wires on the bulbs to the opposite sides, this will mean both lamp and holder are using fresh unused surfaces.
