Audio problem on old Gottlieb - Hulk

How would i test which board on my Hulk is faulty, It just went quiet on me...
I know old system1 s have suspect connections where the cables meet the pcbs but they all appear to be making contact.
I think it is trying to make a noise as I can faintly hear distortion similar to the noises it should make..
Any Gottlieb experts on here ?

Locate the audio amplifier chip and put your finger on the pins - the speaker should blurt out a loud sound. This would confirm the audio amp is working at least and you can determine which way to go from there.

The chip is "U8" Pin 2 is the input. Measure for 14V on pin 14. (if you don't have a manual email me - support@homepin.com - *wink*)

Hi again
nearly a year later Im looking at this sound problem again as life got in the way..
Hope you dont mind me asking for any more advice you could offer with this?
I am getting a constant hum which adjusts with the volume control,. There is no difference if i touch U8 at all, it is also getting it supply at pin 14, although only 12,9 v that should work..
Would you know if changing the sound ic would help or where i'd get one,,?
