Attaching the backglass lift deely

I gather the original used friction tape. Needless to say the internets has many opinions on the best thing to use.
What do folks recommend for doing this.

The normal lift channel? Just put it on - if you have the right width there should be enough friction.

Electrical insulation tape. a few layers to build up the thickness
