I've got an issue with Claires Creech, when using @stumblor s chase echo and Afterglow GI the chase lamps flash regularly when they shouldn't.

I've had two chase echos and had the same issue so it's not those. Tried a few things all which don't make sense.

Yesterday I tried something and it seemed promising but maybe it's the correct behaviour?

The chase lamps are controlled by Q32 and Q36 in the solenoid section of the power driver board.

In the service menu there's a "Ramp lights" test. You can set it to cycling or stopped. With it cycling, probing Q32 it pulses high to low fast. When. I press stop sometimes it stops and stays low, sometimes it stays high.
When it stays low, I get the lamp issues.

As far as I understand with a coil, if a tip102 was staying low, the coil would lock on and blow the transistor. So Q32 (or Q36) stopping on low seems wrong, and the fact depending when you hit stop in the service menu it'll land on other low or high.

But maybe on Creech this is normal behaviour?
If anyone with a Creech and a logic probe could try this I'd really appreciate it. This issue has been driving me crazy for over two weeks now!

Just connect up your logic probe, find Q32. Power on the game, go into the service menu, into tests then find 'Ramp lights' test. Use one hand to hold the probe on the ground tab of Q32 and the other to press Enter on the service buttons. Switch between cycling and stopping and see if when stopped you can get it to land on proving Low.

Or someone with experience tell me the above is normal or not?

How funny, well I guess different logic probes? Yours looks more professional 😄
I think it's normal then !

I really appreciate you doing that for us 👍 thanks so much!
