Alphanumeric Display - One diagonal segment out?

Hi,

I'm looking to fix an issue with my Bally Dr Dude, its never bothered me too much but ever since I got this machine one diagonal segment (on all numbers on the left hand side display) has been out, meaning letters like K are displayed incorrectly (top right diagonal line is out). The previous owner said that it was all working fine when he had it so I can only assume this went bad in transit. My question is - what could be causing this? A bad edge connector? A transistor knocked out? Can anyone give me any clues as how to solve this?

Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

Chris

I'd try reflowing the edge connectors of the lines from the MPU via the display board to the Display. Have you got a circuit diagram that you can follow as you could just target the problem segments.

If it's the same segment missing for each digit on the display it could also mean the segment driver transistor is bad or possibly the decoder IC.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, it's the same segment for each character of the left display. I'll attempt reflowing the connectors first.
