At this time of year there is a relentless succession of so called sales

Black Friday [end of Nov]
Cyber Monday [1 Dec]
Boxing Day
New Year's Day

If you have the flexibility - when do you buy expensive stuff like dishwasher/ oven/ TV/ mobile phone etc etc ?

I use this site to track amazon prices

Before a “sale” date, you can often seen a trending price, then a drop, before returning higher than the trending price. This often shows where the sale price might go should they drop it again and I set a notification to know if it hits my desired price.

Coupert do it for sites too.

Problem is that looks at listed prices, and doesnt include "save x% at checkout" and "voucher prices" which a lot seem to use for sales now...
Is a shame really since it's a really good idea - but deffo doesnt give a true indication of price history now companies have found a way to circuvent it :(

It was more about price tracking to see a trend or knowing the average true price.

My other method is to be involved in any discount scheme available to me. I can often get 5% off at some places but these go up at times and I wait for that.
Through one, I can get 1 discount every 3 months from eBay, so I time it for when I want to get the biggest value item.

Again, this is me saying that sales are rarely the best time to buy the exact thing you want. So plan and track for the true best price.

I use top cash back and it’s installed on my browser so kicks in if the site gives cash back, have had over £400 in a few years

I use idealo, that way I find the thing I want/need, then find out the historical price and set a reminder for what I’m prepared to pay.
