Advice needed - Stern Godzilla playfield chipping

Hi all - I have a GZ that I bought NIB. Unfortunately after less that 6 months the playfield is starting to chip already, behind the post to the right of the left spinner. Picture attached below.

I've spoken to Phil who forwarded this query to a specific contact at Stern, but no reply as yet. I'm going to forward the mail to the stern support team and try to get some response at least.

@roadshow16 kindly suggested using some nail varnish hardener (which I've ordered) and putting down a washer - but I kind of want to hear something back from Stern first before doing any repairs. (The machine is not being played at the moment to avoid any further damage)

Was hoping to lean on the advice of wise others on this forum as well - Are these kind of playfield issues on new sterns expected? Has anyone else experienced these kind of issues with NIB sterns and how did you go about escalating this or fixing it? Any other advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

All 3 modern Stern I've owned (including 1 NIB) had playfield damage in at least 2 spots. Two of them within less than 1k games. Most of the time a guide rail digging into the clear, but I've also had chips/flakes come right off. Luckily for me it was always in hidden areas but it still sucks.

People flamed JJP to no end because of playfield issues on GNR but imho it's the same for Stern! Playfield wear is part of a pin's life after all.

See if Stern send you a new playfield... As for touching up this one, nail varnish and a fat washer should stop the damage from spreading? I'm no expert though.

How many plays have you put on yours?

Personally I wouldn't even consider doing home repairs on a 6 month old, but defective, machine - if you bought it from Pinball Heaven then your contract is with them, not Stern, so I'd just let Phil sort it out. If you start doing home repairs before going through all the steps in a warranty claim, then you almost certainly void the warranty and rule out any legal recourse you'd have for getting the issue fixed.

Thanks for the advice so far, I agree that I don't want to do any repairs until I hear back from Stern or Phil. Frustrating, but will wait for a response.
