Abba Voyage

Yeah - want to go and see this.
Also hope that Kiss take it over so when they stop touring they can do the avatar stuff.
Shame other bands dont get on this.

One of ABBA's lifetime superfan's here, I was sceptical at first being hologram rather than a live performance but now I really want to go, I was actually last week looking up tickets to treat myself for my birthday next month 🤗

got tickets for later this year but looking forward to it.

Hmm. I’m really sceptical about the whole thing. Much like Dio touring after RJD died and using a hologram.

Glad people are enjoying it but I’d far rather see and support a new band.

Obviously your enjoyment doesn’t detract from what I like so ignore my old man grumpiness.

I doubt many other bands will/can do this. ABBA are unique in that they are super loaded and haven't toured/performed for 30 years.

Any band could do this - it is technology.
Now they have done it with ABBA then other acts will follow.
The acts will need to be big and have money behind them.
It is a purpose built arena in London - it will not be pulled down after two years!
I do agree with @johnwhitfield - I worked in 2016 on the Wacken Dio show (as Craig's guitar tech). Abba have moved it to yet another level (with another 6 years of technology).
Also ABBA in the past were not that good live, in 2022 we have so much better technology.

For someone who’s no fan of Abba and who loves rawness of live acts, I’m struggling with the appeal of such an event, yet people seem to love it!

Can someone explain what makes this performance / theatre / cinema seemingly so magical compared with watching them at the pictures?

I drive past the venue daily and saw it built day by day. The big letters on it look kinda cool at night!

I'm a little of an ABBA fan but it doesn't appeal to me at all. It looks more like a fun night where you can enjoy ABBA than an actual gig that feels intimate and real.
It sounds like its missing what makes live music good but I understand it's got a different audience.

I did think it odd to deage ABBA and have promo pics of them looking young when they released new music. Its a bit ageist no?

Mrs Tox got tickets to the opening night and said it was amazing, ABBA were the first band she ever saw live in Brighton in ‘79 so she is a lifelong fan. At the end of the first night of the London show ABBA actually came on and took a bow at the end which made it even more magical for her.
