3D Printed items

Does anyone have any suggested "you tube training" for the basics if being able to create my own prints? Havent an issue with the printing, however would like to be able to create my own things :)

Probably depends on what sort of prints you want to make.
There's loads of choobs on fusion 360 for functional stuff.
Making a print from an image is done via a website. Can create models from an image too - results for this are mixed ime

For 3D design I messed with Blender for ages & hated it. Was introduced to Fusion & it was soooo easy in comparison, and the tutorials are great too.

I think blender is more orientated towards arty tomfoolery. (That said I've tried dabbling with it a few times and wasn't keen either)
Done stuff with tinkercad and 3d builder. Sorta tried fusion and keep promising my self to git gud with it.. one day..😁

Like HomerRamone wrote, it much depends what you're most likely to want to design. Simply put, do you tend to artwork or engineering? Mine in the latter so Onshape in my choice and has plenty of tutorials. Also now getting into 3d scanning to replicate complex shapes.

Pick a colour, any colour :D

That's just the PLA.

Have got another 20 or so in ABS, PETG, Silk and Matte as well as tricolour & fluorescent!

Yes, I'm addicted.

I have toyed with getting a Revopoint Mini 2, which I think @mission65 has. I hear their software is good for post processing and getting you back to a model to print. But I haven't tried one.

This weekend, is Makers Central, https://www.makerscentral.co.uk/
I am hoping to see some scanners there and maybe take the plunge if the prices are good.

I may end up scanning a metal part as I can't find it anywhere.

Didn't really want to get a scanner but if needs must!

I'd forgotten all about that, thanks for the reminder.

What day are you going? It's Midlands league meet on Sunday, so will have to be Saturday for me.

yeah easier than scanning id say

Even take a pic of it on graph paper to help with measuring
I'd agree depending on the length of the part vs bed print size as ideal if not joined but otherwise still feasible. Once you've got the linear shape sorted (only need a 1 or 2mm extrude) then scale up and add the angles and cut outs which look relatively easy to position.

Found the metal in the end, struck gold with a long time hoarder of parts in the US

One of the best things about 3D printing is how easy it is to have an idea - then knock up a prototype, print and trial.

Still in test mode at the moment, but hopefully that this will look amazing once done.

Have been experimenting with Hueforge and creating bookmarks, along with The Krays image for a customer.

Amazing quality

I am now getting into these paid for content designs. What you get for the money is great, both the finished project and the fun of the build. Plus, you can then justify the cost of the printer by some reverse maths of how much it would have cost to buy the finished item.

Id be happier if I managed to sell a couple of the prints. Not fussed about making a business of it but enough to cover the patreon cost would be good

I've actually just got my public liability insurance so I can sell more easily.
Have got my first stall coming up at a school summer fayre on the 28th, as well as once every month or so at the hospital, and car boot sales.

Having done my homework and visited and spoke to numerous stall holders and seen their wares, I'm hoping that I've managed to bypass some of the obvious noob mistakes (but probably will run in to many more).

New gazebo arrived today, so this weekend I'll be doing a trial setup in my garden to set things up and see what stock I'm going to need printing before the 28th. 🫰

I've calculated I've spent over 10k in the last 12 months alone on 3D printing related stuff, so could do with clawing some of that back.

That's a similar logic to "saving" £1000 on a 4th printer because it was reduced in the sale.
Despite not needing 3 printers, let alone 4 🤣

But here we are.
