Is this VECTOR Club business? If so isn't the solenoid driver A3 and J3 pin 1 is not used and possibly the connector is 24 way (I don't know my wiring is missing!). Also aren't the connectors typically .156?
hope your having better luck than me with my vector
mine only goes into attract mode and wont start a game.
in test mode for solenoids they all work flippers etc and outhole kicks a ball out,
i even bought an alltek mpu board put that on free play still wont start a game
the switch test come up with a zero
think that means all switches ok?
do you hold start button in when doing switch test its all new to me
the alltek solenoid board seems to have a problem as well
not my day
thanks for replies
On my GOLD BALL the Switch Test shows the number of the lowest closed switch - so in normal circumstances as most switches are NO this will be the lowest numbered ball trough (assuming balls are inserted).
Does VECTOR have any pre-req's to Start for example on GOLD BALL it wont start (credit button does nothing) if the Gold Ball trough isn't closed. This has thrown me lots of times either the Gold Ball out or trough switch mis-adjusted.
So if you're seeing zero no switch is closed, press Credit button should see 06, load the 3 pinballs you should see the trough switches in turn.
06 is the Credit Button per the list below, So what do you see when the pinballs are in the trough? I'm not sure of the switch descriptions below but I think it should be 03, 02 then 01 as you insert the balls into the trough. If not then the trough isn't being detected which would explain why it wont start a game as it thinks no balls are installed.
Sorry I can't be more specific but my VECTOR is wire and pcb less!
That doesn't sound right to me. If the balls are removed and all drop targets are up then all switches listed above should be open and you can go around the playfield closing them to check they register correctly. I've just read the manual and the switch detection test is per my GOLD BALL that is it only shows the lowest number closed switch at a time. If you saw 06 earlier then 01 must be closing at some point.
in london on the underground you here mind the gap
i think they must have seen the gap on this out hole switch
have i found the reason i cant get a game to start
nooooooooooooooo!
oh well any more suggestions, also changed diodes on 4 switches round
the outhole and checked the gaps also shows zero on ball in play in switch test
Have you added credits? If you don't the game won't start until you do...
Remove the balls. Put the switch test mode on. Then check the add credit switches 9 and/or 10 and/or 11. Verify that they are detected in the switch test.
Then add one ball to the outhole (sw3) and verify that it is detected in the switch test. Then push that ball up the trough (sw2) and verify that is detected in the switch test. Then add a second ball to the outhole. Verify that the switch test shows 03 and 02. Then push that ball up the trough (sw1) and verify that the switch test shows 01 (sw2 and sw1 active). Then add the third ball to the outhole and vefiy that ther switch test shows 03 and 01.
Press the start button and verify that the switch test shows 06, 03 and 01.
If all of the above is ok then exit the switch test and try adding credits then try starting the game.
I'm guessing that you adjusted the gap on sw3. With the power switched off, grab a meter and see if there is continunity across both lugs with a ball in place. If there isn't you need a new switch or check connections/diode, etc. If there is then you need to check continunity from switch to connector in the back box. I would guess a connector problem at the backbox as they can be very flakey.
no continuity across lugs dont register in switch test
time for new switch best place for them?
you got a shop special when lit pinball club
and thanks for help it is appreciated
took the switch out while i try find a new one
not available at pinballmania just wondered is the diode
round the right way?
pinched nedreuds idea of jewellers spyglass for closeups
i thought the diode had to be across the 2 leaves but its not on this switch
Power in on the White/Orange through the switch to the un-banded end of the diode which feeds the other wire at the banded end of the diode. Which would be what I'd expect. Have you tested the diode as that is not standard and may have blown.
Try looking at the other end of the of the switch where the contacts are as it looks like one of the contacts may be missing (see the mind the gap photo, longer leaf of the two).
